Media Matters: Kyra Phillips defending Karl Rove
CNN's Kyra Phillips: "definitely a major smear campaign going on" against Rove

CNN anchor Kyra Philips responded to a call by Democratic senators for President Bush to fire White House senior adviser Karl Rove for his alleged role in the outing of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame by saying: "definitely a major smear campaign going on."

Phillips made her comment on the July 12 edition of CNN's Live From ..., following footage of Sens. John Kerry (D-MA) and Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) calling for Rove to be fired:

2. Kyra made a couple of big mistakes
First, she spouted off to somebody LIVE instead of making a drive-by remark after video tape....

Second, she messed with THE WRONG PERSON ...Nancy doesn't take crap from anybody! (As we used to say in the south: Kyra would rather french-kiss a rattler rather than mess with Pelosi again....

5. Let's not forget her empathy for Ali Abbas.

Remember him? The Iraqi boy who lost everything, everybody and two arms in an airstrike?

For those of you who don't know about this golden moment in her caree, here's Kyra interviewing the doctor treating him:

AL-NAJADA: Actually, today he was in good condition after the operation and started speaking with a journalist and answering all their questions. The thing which he was -- they asking about -- the journalists, especially the broadcasting, what the message he wants to reflect from the war. He said, first of all, thank you for the attention they're giving to him, but he hopes nobody from the children in the war they will suffer like what he suffer.

PHILLIPS: Does he understand why...

AL-NAJADA: Kyra.

PHILLIPS: Doctor, does he understand why this war took place? Has he talked about Operation Iraqi Freedom and the meaning? Does he understand it?

If she's not on the payroll she should stop pretending.
