The Labor Day Blog-a-thon at the Bourne rotary on Cape Cod
Here are some of the pics from the First Annual Labor Day Blog-a-thon at the Bourne rotary on Cape Cod.

The call to arms was sounded by PuraVidaDreamin in this post:

We set up around 1:30PM EST, and started breaking down and cleaning up around 6PM. Traffic coming off Cape Cod was very light, considering the day. Normal backups are in the 3 ~ 5 mile range, with almost complete gridlock around the rotary; lots of cars came by with NO gridlock. Traffic slowed to 10 ~ 15 MPH, but no gridlock.

Here are the cars heading northbound into the rotary:

The first thing they saw entering the rotary:

A little side note here. As we were standing there and flashing the peace sign or thumbs up at cars, we were guessing the positive vs. negative response was about 3-1. I said “Naaaaah. I think it’s more positive than that.” So we decided to (very un-scientifically) count the responses. Positive responses included horn tooting, thumbs up, waving, and peace signs. Negative responses included the ever thoughtful “Fuck You”, “Get a job” & thumbs down. We counted for about a half hour – the final tally was 147 positive to 8 negative. We were getting positive responses from JAGUARS, MERCEDES & CADILLACS!

Some of the other signs:

It’s a local issue that the VFP is trying to raise. During the Viet Nam war, the Globe would publish causality numbers on the front page once a week. The Globe is refusing to do the same for the Iraq war. Read all about it here:

And this is the last thing they saw as they went onto the bridge:

This blogging was brought to you by these Patriots:

Peace.
