The upside of the Katrina scandals getting all this attention in the news
At least we're being spared the usual annoying build up to the September 11th anniversary. This has become an annual ritual of Bush hagiography--and a prime load of flag waving bullshit from overpaid tv talkers who've never spent a day in their lives actually serving their country or communities. Finally earning their paychecks (and I exempt the Fox talking heads from this, because they always earn their paychecks), they've not had either the time or the stomachs to glorify Bush's "brave" response to the first national calamity he failled to prepare for.
That is really tasteless before Katrina and certainly now. NOt only does Katrina take away this moment of commeroration but 9/11 from them as well because it pales in comparison of this tragedy. They can't exploit this tragedy for political gain because they caused it. They are desperate for spin and propaganda at the moment and they got nothing.
2. I'd love to see some of that good ol' 9/11 mawkishness
'long about now. As much as the pseudo-patriotism and Bush/Giuliani veneration turns my stomach, it sure beats seeing and hearing about all the misery on the Gulf Coast.
3. Honestly, I'd take the hypocracy of the 9/11 "celebration" over this
But this may serve to wake up any people who might start having doubts about gee dubya.
I'm certain when the dust settles, the black community will become more united than ever over this. I just hope other people realize that they aren't exempt just because they're not black.
