The prophecy of a puke
The aftermath of Hurricane Katrina has been described as biblical and hell on earth. It’s as though God exercised final wrath on New Orleans and Mississippi, punishing them for long years of voodoo, evil music, offshore casinos, greedy oil men, the fleshpots and rampant political corruption.

Sounds plausible, but I’m a Christian and I certainly don’t believe this was any act of God. Perhaps God looked away and did not turn back the hurricane, but most certainly this whole deal was the work of wicked men.

New Orleans is now a great tragedy … one that is still unfolding and can be easily explained.

So let’s look at a prophecy from God and then one from George Bush.

1. Odd,
but the center of the wickedness, the French Quarter, seemed to sustain less damage than a lot of the churches. Maybe God's mad, alright, but at what?

2. It's mans lack of stewardship of God's creation (Global Warming)
that caused this pure and simple. This is how we Christians must fight this bs. The free-will given to leaders of the corrupt governments that run this world, have been overcome with greed and lead them to not take care of our environments. You got to use their words against them. Trust me, Stewardship is a really BIG one.

3. I think greed and lack of care for the poor
as well as global warming, are the problem. We've really lost our way - a lot of religiosity but no love and no compassion at all.

by nature) Christian. This religiosity, I don't know what religion it is, because it sure as H*LL ISN'T MINE!

5. I don't think Americans are the people we used to be.
Maybe we NEVER were the people we "used to be", and I'm looking at the past too nostagically. But I find myself wondering if we haven't fallen too far to become again a compassionate nation. I know God's grace can accomplish miracles, but people have to be willing. In my more pessimistic moments, I don't know if we have it in us.
Any encouraging words?

9. Light will triumph over darkness.....
don't lose FAITH.

I'm Christian to the best of my ability with the help of Grace, taught to love (hold) my neighbor ABOVE myself, do selfless acts, remember this planet was given to us to have life in and not desecrate (stewardship). Do I always put these beneficial instructions into practice? No. Then I am reminded of where I've fallen short and apply changes to correct my ways. It's an ongoing process.

"You will know them by their fruits."

I have witnessed people that are not churched or that embrace non-Christian traditions of faith who are more 'Godly' and 'Christ-like' than some professing to be His anointed.
I am not 'mindless'; I don't coat check it at the church's door. There are strong voices speaking out against atrocities of the day especially re: Katrina--for those I pray wisdom, discernment and strength, and I thank you.

We have evolved into something different than the people from say, the 40's, when my parents got married. Not necessarily bad, but I see where materialism has infiltrated and gotten a stronghold in peoples' lives. We are not exempt, but some of the so-called Christianity I see is being polluted by excess materialism.

When my grandfather touched down on U.S. soil in Castle Gardens after his journey from Europe, he got on his hands and knees, kissed the ground, and said, "God bless America!".
I must continue to have hope.

6. M-hm, stewardship is a big word -- eleven letters...
Edited on Thu Sep-08-05 02:10 AM by IntravenousDemilo
...so you may have to sound it out reeeeeeally slooooooowly for them, as for a small, not-very-bright child.

7. Actually, for Christians (of which the right wing are apart) it is the
money raising word. They talk about STEWARDSHIP (even at my non-RW Church) when they are looking for yearly pledge donations. It is not as bad as it sounds. We run a very low cost nursery to 1st grade program. They need to have some number for budgeting how to allocate money. In my church, most of it goes to the needy, nationally and internationally in fact.

8. This is a man made disaster and that mans name is George Bush.
It's really that simple. The neocons are already trying to figure out how to build this up to something so complex. That it's absolutely incomprehensible to anyone. So why even bother trying to understand. Let's not play the blame game. Lets just move along.

Slay thier Complexity with Simplicity. That jaw bone of an ass. Don't talk it up to something so complex it overwhelm one powerful man. It will not. I'll promise you that and it's in writing. So talk it down to something so simple everyone can understand. Then let everyone overwhelm that one powerful man. That is the way.
