Met Howard Dean today
Howard Dean was in Charleston SC tonight for a townhall meeting.
I wanted to hear him speak in person and take questions live to see if he's ready for prime time. I must say he was much better in person then he has been in those lame debates. Doesn't look as stiff either. A bit too much makeup but all politics in show business so I guess that is something that comes with the job.

If Dean becomes our pick for the Democratic party and if he handles himself on a daily basis like he did tonight we will be okay.

Of course if the Congress is still Republican then I'm not sure how much he will be able to get done but I came home with hope. Also the AME church where the townhall meeting was held was completely full. Around 80 percent white and 20 percent black.

Last, I asked him if he becomes President if he will look into the events that occured on Sept 11th and meet with the widows to tell them the truth. I told him I was a former Air Traffic Controller and was stationed at a NORAD base and it doesn't add up. I asked him to please look at it and tell the 911 widows and America the truth. Gov Dean appeared to listen and holds your hand as you listen to him, like a good politician should, and told me he would do that.

I know I'm a newbie but I wanted to share my thought on tonight.

1. He's always terrific in townhalls, forums , speeches answering questions.

The "debate" format doesn't do any of the candidates real justice. Dean's greatest strength, imho, is that he truly listens with his heart and that the suggestions and concerns that we bring to him and the campaign in person and on the blog are reflected in action time and again.

He's not just a good candidate, he's the best I've ever seen and I include JFK, who I adored and worked for at the age of 15.

On edit: My most important question .... how was the response of the African American members of the audience to the answers he gave to their questions?

4. AME Church
is considered in our area a black church. So this townhall meeting was put on by the top Black Reps in our area. Congressman Jesse Jackson JR was also there. A black woman hold the title of Deputy campaign manager (I believe).

He talks straight up. A young black male talked about how it's hard for his parents and himself to afford college this year. Dean talked about how the tax cuts are hurting the middle class and answered the young mans questions. Personally, he talks to everyone the same. At the next meet up I will ask around and see what others saw. I don't think he's fearful about talking about race.

6. I agree.
He does talk to everyone the same and he's not at all afraid to talk about race. I just wanted to know if the blacks in the audience responded to him as strongly as I think they will. This is a big test.

2. Dean is a great candidate.
He is most definitely ready for prime time. Glad you got to see him. His supporters here are condescendingly accused of worship, which is silly.

He is a good man.

I'm glad you asked him about the 9/11 widows. I think we have a great team of Democrats running against bush.

7. Hey Corgigal, that's great
I agree that he's much more charismatic in person than on TV.

And good for you for asking about 9-11 and speaking up for the widows.

He gives me hope, too.
