Calling all citizens of southern states
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 12:44 PM by SodoffBush
I just got finished with the senators/reps of one particular southern state which was as easy as pie to file a complaint against w/re: this national catastrophe that Bush has created. I complained loudly against Bush and asked by Brown and Chertoff still had jobs.

Then I called reps in CA, and the line was constantly busy! I couldn't get through!

Southerns, get your asses on the horn and complain LOUDLY that Bush will investigate himself re: Katrina over YOUR DEAD BODY!

CALL! NOW! The lines are NOT busy, but they damn well should be!

2. Is it a cultural thing that Southerns don't call their reps?
Edited on Tue Sep-06-05 12:56 PM by SodoffBush
"I wouldn't want to bother them. They might be in the middle of their afternoon Maker's Mark bourbon mint julip."

???

Boxer and Feinstein's phones have been in "wait your turn" status for days! I never did reach Boxer, no matter which CA city office I called!

In Southern states, you get an aide ASAP because no constituent is on their asses!

On edit: I'll be curious to see how many Southerns even touch this post.

Last I checked, that blanket didn't cover me here in Tennessee and I wasn't the least bit cold.

Your point is well-made and I, for one, appreciate the back-up. I'm always complaining about how many members of DU stereotype the entire South as stupid bigots, without even considering that more than 42 percent of us didn't vote for the Bush Junta.

Thanks! And a belated welcome to DU. :hi:

14. We don't drink no tea.
We drink margaritas. Here's the secret northern recipe, but keep it to yourself:

1-1/2 oz the best tequila you can find
1 oz fresh squeezed lemon or lime juice (none of that sweet artificial mixed crap)
1/2 oz triple sec

Shaken not stirred. Lime the glass edge, dip in salt, and pour over ice.

An extra attitude boost, in case one needs it to hold their own representative accountable for the worst disaster in US history!

Editing to add: Folks we need some letter outlines and talking points too. What have you got so far?

I had no trouble with talking points.

"Bush is going to investigate himself? Is this a joke? Has the Senator/Rep expressed any outrage? Why not? Why are Brown and Chertoff still employed? Where has Cheney been? What's his job, these days? This is the worst catastrophe in US history, and you honestly think I'm going to tolerate Bush investigating himself? Are you ill? You can't dial a disease, can you?"

26. I called, she had an attitude, I asked obvious questions she didn't have
answers to, she copped an attitude, I pressed on with obvious questions; she didn't know the hierarchy of the nation's emergency system, she sent me to the "Crime Control and Public Safety" to "answer my questions," I asked how that organization fit within the spectrum of the Dept. of Homeland Security, FEMA and the Office of National Preparedness, she brushed me off. I asked her where Cheney's been and if he continues to play a role within this system. She quickly transferred me to CC&PS, I got an answering machine.

Easley's office is in manic denial mode. Those are the types you hit hard with the evidence. They cop an attitude, you cop an attitude and hit them with facts.

but you aren't using it constructively.

It's all well and good for other states to consider beefing up their emergency plans, BUT...

Nobody in their right mind in any elective office is going to pay attention to you right now.

Take the time to calm the hell down. You aren't going to persuade officeholders of your content if you are overly emotional. You are defeating your own effectiveness.
