Disappointed by network TV....

I get eight television stations over the air because
I refuse to pay for cable. This morning there wasn't
a single channel reporting on the disaster. One station
had a "donate" ticker running at the bottom of the screen.

I do have cable internet access and have been following the disaster
via DU and the WWL feed.

Many people in my area probably can't afford cable TV.
It worries me that they don't understand the extent of
the tragedy. The six minutes they see on the nightly
news just can't do it justice.

I think many people across the country may not have
a clue as to the true extent of the disaster.

My friend had not heard of the extent of problems until YESTERDAY!

She doesn't have a TV, but geesh! How could it possibly be that she missed the whole story until 5 full days after the event? And then she only heard about it because there's a garage sale happening in my neighborhood with big signs all around. She's not usually this clueless, so it makes me wonder about how much "ambient" news is getting around.

1. The newspapers are covering it well---that's how we did it for

many years.

2. After September 11, it was a week before the networks...

... went back to regular programming.

Their news departments ran the networks 24/7, in those days after that tragedy.
