Aide to Mo. Sen. Bond Fired Over Web Site
By THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

Filed at 9:51 p.m. ET

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Missouri Republican Sen. Kit Bond on Thursday fired his communications director for running a political Web site named for the tail number of a plane that crashed in 2000, killing the state's Democratic governor.

``The actions of a member of my staff in using official computers to make hurtful personal attacks on public servants were totally unacceptable and will not be tolerated,'' Bond said in a statement issued Thursday.

The staff member was Ernie Blazar, Bond's communications director the past three years. Bond aide Jason Van Eaton confirmed Thursday that Blazar had been fired.

The Web site had Republican-leaning commentary with links to political news and other Web sites. Blazar, using pseudonyms, apparently ran the site and e-mailed other political Web sites during working hours, and some of it was done on his
Senate computer.

The site's title -- N8354N -- ``is not random,'' a note on the Web site read. ``It marks an inflection point in current Missouri politics. On that day, the worm began to turn.'' Content was removed from the site early Thursday morning.

Gov. Mel Carnahan was running for Senate when his plane crashed Oct. 16, 2000. He was elected posthumously and Carnahan's widow, Jean, was appointed to take his place.

I live in Missouri and this had better be headlines in tomorrows papers. It's funny,I used to think that the repubs that represented my area were a little less 'creepy' then some on the national level, but between this and overturning the conceal and carry vote..I've changed my mind. Thanks for the link.

All of these disgusting stories - the leak, this web site, Rush, their behavior over Wellstone's death are signs that these people are out of control.

It starts in the White House - out of control!

13. Every time I think they've stooped to the lowest, something like this
happens.

OKAY, guys, that TOLL FREE CAPITOL HILL SWITCHBOARD NUMBER AGAIN...

1 (800) 839 - 5276 - it's the best one, I think.

UNLESS you like 1 (800) 648 - 3516

You can be switched for free to Kit Bond's office where you can sound off. Granted, he did the righ thing in firing this asshole, but he should be reminded that WE ARE WATCHING, and WE ARE WELL AWARE THAT THIS IS, BY NOW, A PRETTY TYPICAL RETHUG TACTIC.

We ought to demand a way to contact Ernie Blazar and give him hell!

Shit. This makes me embarrassed to say I'm originally from Missouri.

We SHOULD spread this far and wide. The Dem-CA groups had it, too. JUST COMPLETELY REVOLTING!!! This man will burn in hell for it. Or should.

Not.

Kit Bond is one of the lowest fucking pieces of slime to ever blight my home state, and I am positive he knew about the site, and this is him merely covering his ass by firing his aide.

26. this is a taunt, isn't it?
This site chronicles whether Missouri will remain a so-called political swing-state through the 2004 elections. Missouri Republicans are on the march here. Not clear whether this is a freak occurence or the start of something more permanent. Animal entrails, political tea-leaves and the detritus of daily news clips will be scoured to divine the pace and direction in the power shift now underway. The title of this blog is not random. It marks an inflection point in current Missouri politics. On that day, the worm began to turn.

i'm physically sick.

22. The Danforth-Ashcroft-Bond Troika
They've been thick as thieves for years, and I can easily see Bond allowing an anti-Democrat website to be worked on from his offices; especially one that is so disrespectful to Mel Carnahan, who embarassed Ashcroft by beating him even though he was dead.

23. Heh
Look at this exchange:
Thanks for the mention.

It is a new site devoted to trying to chronicle what looks like a clearly defined major shift in Missouri politics.

I did change taglines early in the evolution of the site. "What Would Truman Do" was just not sharp enough. So I dumped it.

If you divine the meaning of the new tagline -- N8354N -- you will understand the precise moment when the fortunes of the Missouri Democratic Party begain to slide.

Stay tuned. And thanks for the good words.

Google Cache of the N8354N site

Here's his mirror called What Would Truman Do, which is now deleted, except the poor fool forgot to dump the archives:

Note the big difference -- on WWTD he affects the persona of a concerned Democrat. Wily little shit isn't he?

29. Still see a lot of Carnahan bumper stickers, he was loved.
A heads up if you're interested, here in St. Louis our three biggest grocery stores are about to be picketed, Dierbergs, Schnucks and Shop n Save. They have union employees, the union and owners can't reach an agreement. This is huge because many delivery trucks etc are also union. It'll be interesting to see what some of the biggies, like AB do. Unions are big here and St Louis is a picketing town.
In a somewhat defense of the food chains, they are saying it's hard to compete with Wal-mart. The St. Louis Post Dispatch is in quite squirmish with Wal-mart and pretty much trying to get ppl to boycott Wal-mart. Ah, the Show Me state.
