Investigation into how rescue operations were purposefully stalled?
I can't help but feel like there was a conspiracy to keep rescue agencies from doing their jobs for these people.

Its like 911 - there are people whose jobs it is to rescue and they don't need some president to tell them to do their job. No - from what I witnessed, this was a forced situation which portrayed bringing out the animal aspect of people and then staging a coinciding PR shot with the final release of the rescue operation.

What we see is the same pattern of opportunism on the back of a tragedy so many times from the Bush administration. I bet they think tanked it really hard for all those days they sat waiting while people died.

Certainly with the timing of the Bush appearance on the rescue scene with the arrival of the trucks leaves no one wondering. It is just a question of what was the extent of the involvement in creating the delay.

Noone in the media is denying this attrocity and even on FOX they are asking why it took so long. If you really want the answer, ask Karl Rove, I say.

To me it looked like a blantant "We're not going to bother with those blacks". It looked like some racist had control of the system and calculated "we'll create this hell hole for them and then portray them as savages."

And then Bush comes in and says "I don't know what went wrong, not the time for that now."

Actually it seems like Bush wasn't going to do anything until the media finally forced him to do something.

Has anyone heard any plausible excuse generated yet? I haven't.

1. I believe...
we were being taught that...in the future..in any percieved even..threat...the "importance" of rapid declaration of Martial Law...after this slow response "lesson" to all of us...we have a new perception of the "need" for rapid and fequent use of Martial Law. We are so easy to fool...ask karl Rove...he is probably right now patting himslef on the back for this one...martial law is now not only approved of..but in the future we will demand it.

3. "The future will demand it."
I'm afraid that you may be right. We're raising generations on both sides of the race card who will feel that survival is to hang together at the expense of all others. It will take a phenomenal leader to break this trend and Bush isn't him.

4. Vitally informative thread on this topic from yesterday:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=104x4588088

Eloriel has assembled a truly damning array of information pointing to Bush's response as deliberate genocide-by-neglect and genocide-by-indifference. Among the responses, see in particular my Post 61, "The evidence for LIHOP becomes conclusive when it is examined..."

7. It isn't a conspiracy. Bush is president. He has tons of info and requests
for help. He stands down. There is nothing hidden about it. He made that choice. Nobody else had that power.
