Can't get over the impression that Bush lookes iritated and annoyed
even when expressing compassion.

I do my double+ reality check on my impression and it still doesn't go away.

I'm not actually listening to him speak, TV with sound off, but I see it again in the KC Star this morning. I do not see the body language of compassion in the front page photograph. I try to make myself see it, but I just don't see one detail of the image that speaks of sharing THEIR/the other person's feelings. He probably has some experience that he thinks is how they feel, but his body language is way toooooooooo self-conscious, or maybe he's just preoccupied, of course. The picture just looks like a movie poster of what it is supposed to be about. I'd believe it if he'd go into NO and work on one of the labor gangs as a regular person, not a president.

Pardon my meandering.

Solidarity All.

7. You are not meandering, you are right on the mark
He is pissed because he and his thugs are NO LONGER CONTROLLING THE MESSAGE, and all of this bullshit he is doing is a lame, unsuccessful attempt to regain control, and it is not working, and he knows it.

The somnambulent media has awakened, and they are pissed. They are starting to realize how badly they have been used, conned, abused and made to be White House beeyatches...and they do not like it. Shame it took THEM so long, but better late than never, I suppose.

21. And bicycling.
. . . can't blame him for that . . . .

All work and no play, makes George a dull boy. Rove's little the-health-president script didn't work very well. George might be wondering who's in control of things now.

Things are not good; the guy behind the curtain seems to have laid him off.

Not to mention needing to disturb his life for the little people.

13. It's the guilt of September 11...
now being added to by another disaster following a long vacation. Imagine having to live with knowing that the WTC vanished on your watch and now, NO is uninhabitable for months or longer. He can fake pathological confidence during his rare public appearances but he can't remove these images from his mind. It's so unfortunate that he wasn't replaced in the last election, to relieve his desire to somehow overcome his leadership failures by dangerous adventures like Iraq.

22. He is the SINGLE person who chose this War - like a King.
Imagine having all of those War-Dead in your head? That would be un-bearable for me.

SO MANY DEAD for what is basically are GREAT IMPROVEMENT in the Shia Strategic position between Iran and Iraq, which further destabilizes the Iraqi Sunni to become better friends of the Saudi Arabian Sunnis - all under the benevolent supervision of China, especially in its representative in the area - Iran.

17. The longer he has this job
the more we see the real George. If you get the weekly radio address where you live, and haven't listened, try it. I'm certain he's reading and it comes across as though he is in a hurry to get somewhere else. As if spending a few minutes in true, honest communication with the citizens of the US is too much trouble for him. Which of course is exactly the situation. He'd rather spend his time posturing and rubbing elbows with other members of the monied and priveledged class. Some people say he comes across as a guy you could sit down and have a beer with. Truth is, in my opinion, he wouldn't be within a hundred miles of an average citizen if he had a choice in the matter........

25. Yes, it's very obvious
His facial expressions and body language spoke volumes yesterday. He is uncomfortable and scared because he and his handlers are not in control of the situation and what is being reported. More importantly, he feels nothing but contempt for these poor, dirty, helpless people. Nothing but contempt. It was obvious to the entire world that this was nothing but a sham photo-op. But Bush's body language betrayed more than insincerity: he showed his open disgust for humanity.

29. the essence of Dubya
He wanted to be president only because he felt it was his birthright, not because he wanted to do the actual work of leading the country. There's not a shred of public service mindedness in him (or any other member of the Bush family as far as I can tell). Naturally he gets annoyed when he's forced to put on a mask of compassion to hide his contempt for the rest of us.
