A Barney Frank "funny"
Easlier this afternoon, I was watching a replay of Greenspan's hearing on C-Span2. When it was Rep. Barney Frank's turn, he said to Greenspan that he needed to apologize to him for breaking the embargo on his report. He said something like, I did it, my staff didn't do it, I did it, George Tenent didn't do it, the British didn't do it, I did it. And I promise to be more careful in the future. Even Greenspan had to laugh.

1. Barney Frank is the most intelligent, witty person!
I remember a few weeks ago seeing him and some Republican Congressman in a discussion with Bill Hemmer on CNN...Hemmer and the Republican more or less cut Barney out of much of the conversation....At the end of the interview, when they were saying their good byes Barney said sarcastically, "I'm very happy to have been a party to your reunion!" ....It was hilarious!....Whenever he's on TV the conversation is always a little more lively....:D

2. Go Barney! Go Barney!
Hilarious! "It wasn't the CIA's fault, it was my fault"! I laughed out loud, it brought much needed humor to my day especially in light of Greenspan's repeated references to "home equity" as a means for people to balance their budget. This was quite insensitive and insulting as he seemed to have little appreciation for the fact that lots of people want to get OUT of debt instead of into more by taking out second and third mortgages.

3. Barney Frank is priceless
He's definitely got one of the sharpest wits on Capitol Hill, and his heart's in the right place, too.

He's good for a bon mot pretty much any day of the week. One of my favorites was his response to Dick Armey's referring to him as "Barney Fag" on the floor of the House. Armey was eventually forced to apologize and claimed that he has "mispronounced" Frank's name. On the issue of mispronunciation, Frank said that he had consulted his own mother, and she claimed that never, in all her years of marriage, had she been introduced as "Elsie Fag."

4. Thanks, CB
As many times as I've heard the story of Dick Armey calling him Barney Fag, I never did hear Barney's response. I'd say that's quite a good one. Here's to Barney!!!!
