It’s too dog gone late! - A major American city has been sacrificed!
Edited on Sat Sep-03-05 08:41 AM by demo dutch
The enormity of has happened in NOLA hit me this morning. Our government is holding press conferences and sending 144 generators to the area. Entire areas around the city are forgotten!

THEY'RE THINKING TOO SMALL! WHERE IS THE VISION AND WISDOM OF OUR LEADERS! A major American city has been sacrificed because of the skimping and squabbling over allocation of funds by our government. Thousands upon thousands are displaced and have lost their homes and jobs for months maybe years! The levees broke and and it could have been avoided.

Aid is being withheld for 5 days so that it can co-incide with the arrival of the president. People and animals are dying in the street of a city in ruins while our Govt leaders are going to fundraisers and shopping for shoes. Our soldiers are dying in Iraq unable to full fill the duties they signed up for and unable to protect our citizens.

All this MUST STOP! It’s too dog gone late for NOLA We must fight and change the course of this country more then ever before. or it will be too dog gone late for the entire country!

I’m using some quotes from Rainbow Push

“We must free our public scientific research from the grip of right-wing ideology and theology, in order to answer this question scientifically and protect our people.” Global warming is said to be contributing to the frequency and harshness of these storms. We mush push our leaders to work toward saving our planet and dependency on oil.

“The levee breach demonstrates how serious the flaws are in our internal infrastructure”. Removing people's shoes at the airport doesn’t cut it! Our cities are not safe! The tax cuts for the rich and the billions wasted on Iraq have devastated our public infrastructure, forcing cuts at every level, including levee protection and maintenance” The wheeling and dealing of our politicians with big business must change.

“Our National Guard troops were unable to help their fellow Americans because they are occupying a nation, which did not have WMDs which did not threaten us. “ We must continue to push for our leaders to bring an end to this war NOW and bring the soldiers home. The lies that led us into Iraq have trapped us there, leaving us weaker in the face of threats and challenges at home.

-The poor and indigent were left to battle the water and face the storm alone. We had warning; but too many of our poorest citizens were not evacuated. This must not EVER happen again.” We must push our leaders for social change and stop bowing to big business and corporate globalization!

“Remind those who are in pain that after God sent the flood, he sent Noah a rainbow and a dove, as signs that peace and joy would come again in the morning !” Keep the victims and their families in your prayers and thoughts.

We owe it to them to fight for changes in this country until the bitter end!

2. When the world for the Pugs begins and ends at our borders (except
for wars for oil), it is incapable of thinking big. In fact, for most of these out of touch, bible thumping hypocritical reactive white folk with too much money on the right (yes, those in power), the world begins and ends at the borders of their yard. They are antiintellectual - they are incapable of thinking big, because they are anti-progressive. We are those who think big....but we are not in power. we are screwed.
