Did Nagin put those hotel tourists at the front of the line?
Say it ain't so! Malloy just played clip of Fox's Shep Smith on with O'Lielly....saying that's what he did. Malloy played this clip in the context that Shep was finally waking up from the Kool-Aid Drunk all those Fox fucks have been stumbling around in. What has anyone heard about this front of the line business? The accusation is that Nagin gave them a security detail and got them shoved to the front of the line, getting them busses that the locals couldn't get? I've heard all about these busses all day for the hotel tourists....but, did Nagin really order it? Malloy didn't contradict it.

3. but they had protection--the NAT. guard helped them. seems to me
that someone had to give permission to someone to pull this off.

8. i am not making a judgement. The private source had resources while
the mayors office had none. Perhaps the majors or state office just decided the hotel people needed to get out. the hotel people were another source of anxiety as long as they were there.

4. From what I can gather, there were at least TWO "busing out the tourists"
incidents. One where the hotel privately arranged for buses and security guards, and the tourists were taken out in the middle of the night so the locals wouldn't get pissed; the other where a group of nice clean tourists (complete with plenty of luggage)were hustled to the front of the LONG line at the Superdome (or possibly the convention center) and were put on buses ahead of the poor local people.

5. I don't believe this for one moment. Nagin is NOT in charge!
The Feds are in charge. FEMA and HS.

was the one who could move things or stop them from moving.

7. I don't think Nagins 1 speech made him a saint...
there is culpability at all levels here. Of course the majority is the fed's fault. But there was more Nagin could've done before the storm. Besides read this-

9. There is a concerted effort to blame the mayor and governor
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 10:00 PM by rocknation
to divert blame from Bush. And in view of Nagin's http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4577184">interview with a local radio station, he's due for a Bush empire-style smear. Consider that you heard this on Fox, and take it with a pillar of salt.

14. I would have to see proof positive before I would believe it
I suspect it was the FEMA head who was contacted by the CEO of the hotel chain and, presto, chango, they were shepherded out.

15. Yeah. After what he said on the radio yesterday, I don't think the mayor
made that decision. Have you heard it?
