6. Maybe God IS providng for them
Maybe the food they have to take in order to survive is what God is providing at the moment. Tell that to your wife's "Christian" friend.

10. there is an old joke
.......it's been awhile since I heard but it goes something like this:

a guy is stranded on top of his house in a flood. So he sits there and prays for God to help him. In a little while, a guy comes by in a boat and asks if he needs help. The guy on the roof says 'no thanks, God will help me'. So the guy in the boat leaves. After awhile, someone else comes by in a helicopter and asks the same thing. Again the guy on the roof says God wouldn't let him down. The guy in the helicopter leaves. So finally he dies on the roof. When he goes to heaven, he sees God and he asks, 'why didn't you help me?' God says, I sent you a helicopter and a boat, what more do you want?

Sometimes you have to open your eyes and expect help from unexpected places. And yes, even stealing can be God's will..........especially in desperate times like this.

7. God did provide...
whole stores full of food waiting to be used. I really believe God understands. I think these "Christians" who want people shot on sight are not Christian but merely "stock-holders" and are worried about the stock price of WalMart.

8. That's why I dumped Church and mainstream Christianity..
Did anyone already hear that some gazillions of dollars were being filtered through FEMA to....................PAT ROBERTSON'S Operation Blessing??????

I'm actually AFRAID to donate money because I don't have a CLUE where the hell it will end up. Certainly don't want it to go lining the pockets of the wrong people...

I'm sorry..NO I'M NOT sorry, but if I heard that from some good xtian person I would blast them so bad their hair would catch fire.

12. That's public opinion; but Prov. 6:31 follows in quick succession:
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 09:38 PM by igil
"Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house." (I don't think the 7-fold business is quite per the OT law.)

Because righteousness would require Ex. 23: 2-- "Do not follow the crowd in doing wrong. When you give testimony in a lawsuit, do not pervert justice by siding with the crowd, 3 and do not show favoritism to a poor man in his lawsuit."

But then there's Prov. 30:
8 Keep falsehood and lies far from me;
give me neither poverty nor riches,
but give me only my daily bread.

9 Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you
and say, 'Who is the LORD ?'
Or I may become poor and steal,
and so dishonor the name of my God.

I have no problem with calling theft theft; but I also like what James said: mercy rejoiceth against judgement (James 2).

And it's been so long that without http://www.biblegateway.com/ I wouldn't ever stand a chance of finding any of those passages.

On edit: I personally view looting for basic foodstuffs as an ox in a ditch problem. Moral principles are ordered, with property being ranked below life. But property's ranked above fulfillment of wants.
