HOLY SHIT. TURN ON FOX
Geraldo is crying, saying "what the hell?" talking about the babies, holding one in his arms and crying.

Shep is talking about people being locked into the convention center. Anger in his eyes. Obvious contempt.

12. Good question. The reports seem to contridict one another
I can't imagine Geraldo would be reduced to tears if they had help right now though. Shep is furious right now too.

This is beyond criminal.

20. No, there were NO buses to take them out
I don't know where the hell the buses went but they didn't go to the convention center. All I saw at the convention center were armed troops walking up the steps in a line.

I saw a zillion trucks carry a supplies - why the fuck now that this is all out in the open and apparently there are NG available - why the hell isn't there at least food for these people and why the hell can't we get a zillion gray hound buses down there and get these people out - now I've been pissed that they didn't get everything staged last weekend for immediate relief when the storm was over - but now that it has beeen several days since they have been absolutely hammered on this - WHY CAN'T THEY GET FOOD AND WATER TO THESE PEOPLE and get them the fuck out of there - this is incomprehensible.

8. The government has turned the Convention Center
and the Superdome into concentration camps. People are started to get sick with waterborne infectious deceases.

Bush is just sitting back waiting for them all to die, it will be some much easier to take care of them after that.

19. At the beginning of Shep's segment, there was a convoy driving out and
he said something about the curfew and the people being left once again with nothing. No one in charge, no food or water. And the people stuck on the bridge haven't EVER gotten food or water, not even today.

is the old Giraldo back?

Now, Nagin interviewed:

Nagin: I looked at the Pres in the eyes, and I looked at the Gov, and I told them, you two need to get together and decide the chain of command here.

My question...when bush gets together with Dem Gov Blanco, what do you think will happen? They will crush her, or try to.

13. Geraldo, Geraldo, Geraldo - you pimped yourself out to the
Repug noise/hate machine. Now you are crying on the tv. Your tears must be mostly about your own feeling of guilt for your personal choices of the past few years.

Maybe you will see the light but it will be a long time before anyone will hear your mea culpas.

O'Reilly was getting pissy because Shep wasn't going along with his normal faux cues--I think hell has officially frozen over.

Shep commenting on the fact that there is not equitable treatment for the poor and the African Americans?

21. No. People are free to come and go from the Astrodome.
They have to go through a security check to get back in. But they can freely leave. Lots of interviews with people in the Astrodome parking lot. The decision was made by the Red Cross to lot let reporters in so that the people wouldn't have their privacy invaded. But people can go outside and give interviews.

25. I'll see if I can head down there tomorrow morning
This treatment is truly unforgiveable. I mean, no, you don't want people wandering the streets after being evacuated. But you have to fucking provide for their needs after a disaster like this.

It all comes back to crappy planning and the Bush administration's contempt for experts and caution.

I remember him as a beat reporter in NYC in the early 70's..
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 08:17 PM by Ragazz68
He broke the Willowbrook story(abuses in a facility for severely retarded children). Got in there with hidden cameras and showed the world the horrors of the abuse and got the place closed down. The case is still taught to journalism students in many curriculums.

Despite the different ups and downs of his career. Geraldo started out as a pure "heart and soul" liberal journalist....

spelling on edit...

"Let's get some perspective"

Shep Smith gave him all the perspective he could stand. And then off he scooted to a safer story at the airport.

Fuck you Sean Hannity for downplaying this horror, all the while safe and sound, a thousand miles away from hell.

Thank you Geraldo, and Shep for telling the ugly, ugly truth.

Being in that situation for any more than 2 or 3 ours would reduce them both to blubbering jello molds.

Hmmm. now that I thnk of it, it might be great TV at that ;)

... and he pulls no punches. I'm plenty shocked. The kid has grown up and he's showing some real talent.

My money is on Shep dumping NewsCorp and the whole right-wing Kool-Aid Kids' Club by the time his contract's up.

Same for Geraldo.

Geraldo challanged O'Reilly to send busses down there...made O'Reilly VERY defensive. Then Geraldo talked to a man holding a baby that wasn't his. He was holding the infant because her mom had passed out. O'Reilly cut the feed real fast after that.
