2. Agreed! It's a travesty that it took so long.
They've been dealing with no power (hand-bagging patients on ventilators), looters, snakes, no food or water...and FEMA has been confiscating the supplies sent to them.

It's been a tough week...

8. Yeah, but they've been 'being evac'd' the past three days!
I saw someone from a hospital on WWL a few minutes ago say 'we saw like 6 buses over a ten hr period'...

I don't get this at all... Why is it so difficult to get buses in when Geraldo and Anderson can get in?

10. I know, but it's a report from NOLA, not a report from the media...
At least SOMETHING is actually happening now.

13. You're right, really sad.
I know the doctor who was just evacuated from Tulane and his wife and kids. He's a great guy and getting the reports from his wife (through my sister) let me see a small part of what's REALLY going on down there.

14. Yeah, I actully sent several emails to CNN
saying "GO LOOK AT NOLA.COM!!" There are still people trapped even now! The story isn't 'over' because Bush came in and saw the Convention Center... insane... It's Friday, for God's sake.

7. A guy I went to high school with
is an ER doctor there. He also runs a small B and B near the French Quarter - probably currently under water. This was undoubtedly the most stressful week of his life. The doctors and nurses who stayed with these patients in incredibly adverse circumstances are heroes.

9. You're right... these people did amazing work...
I hope they get them out... The staff was told at some locations that 'they were on their own' after the patients were evac'd.

12. they are air evac'n everyone they can right now
I'm listening to it on the scanner. Trying to do everything by nightfall, but it seems like they were really slowed down today because of shrub's visit. Since he has been gone they are non stop...working their asses off.

trying to evac 150-200 people right now.
