"Lemonade for New Orleans"
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 05:13 PM by Jersey Devil
3 little kids with a table set up at the curb selling lemonade about 5 blocks from my home in a northern NJ burb this afternoon. They had to send a cop to direct traffic because so many people were stopping. Also passed the Teaneck Armory this afternoon, loaded with peoples' SUVs and trucks full of water and clothes they were donating to be taken to the Gulf by the NJ National Guard.

Best I felt all day. Bought some lemonade but didn't take it because I didn't want them to run out. They told me several other people had done the same thing.

1. You gotta love 'em.
I'd give them all I had in cash, and let them keep their lemonade to sell to whomever.

Bless the Children!

4. it's not just the little kids. Tuesday evening, I was driving
somewhere. While stopped at an intersection, I saw a teenaged girl with a sign. I was a bit surprised, as she didn't look like a panhandler. As I drew closer I saw that she wasn't asking for a handout or advertising a carwash. Her sign simply said, "Please help our fellow Americans hurt by Katrina." I'd had a crappy day, up until that point.
