my daughter made me proud today...
after a dentist appointment we stopped at mother-in-laws, just to check up, sister-in-law was there also.Naturally the conversation turned to NOLA. They both yelled they're getting what they deserve because they're nothing but a bunch of lazy ni--rs, wanting hand outs. My daughter asked them if they were really that racist and they both said yes, she turned walked away and said you disgust me. Now I should say something about talking to her grandmother that way, but how can I?

5. I had to do much the same
when my one of children's grandmothers called them sweet little half Jew boys. She went on to say that at least they didn't look it. Actually, they had to talk to me since I refused to go back in her house. We never saw her again after that for numerous reasons but I never wanted to see her again after that.

Sometimes you have to draw the line and I think your MIL and SIL went WAY WAY over that line. Racism and no compassion are a dangerous combination.

I would be proud of her. For something less you should talk to her but for this? I would tell her I was proud.

6. Good girl.

It would be a mistake to alienate your daughter from her granny. Just tell her your mother grew up in a different world and that your daughter's response proves that things are getting better.

7. What you SHOULD do is tell the Grandmother not to talk to your daughter
that way.

8. I'm really STUNNED at some of these stories. You guy ACTUALLY know people
who would say something like that? If someone -even a family member said something like that to me, I would NEVER, EVER speak to them again.

16. I can top that, but it's not hurricane related.
I have a friend who has been trying to get pregnant with her second child. She has had some problems and has been getting some treatment. She just found out she's pregnant, and when they told her in-laws, they told her they had been praying for her not to get pregnant because we're getting close to the end times, and scripture says that babies will suffer horribly during the rapture. Can you believe they had the nerve to say something like that to someone who's been dealing with infertility issues? Absolutely disgusting. My friend has a 3-year-old son--they don't think he would suffer, too? Some grandparents. And they think they're "good Christians," now. If that's religion, I want none of it.

These are the types of people who cut the fetuses out of pregnant womem because they "need to be helped."

Apparently they've joined some little church in the last year, and they've become these psycho fundie nitwits who believe the shit they're told.

My friend and her husband have just brushed it off, but I know it upset her horribly. I'm pissed enough for both of them. I don't know whether to cry or to beat the shit out of both of them.

I hope that POS in the White House is proud of the Amerika he's created. Culture of life, my ass.

9. No you should NOT say something about talking to her grandmother that way!
Her grandmother was spewing horrible, hateful speech. You shouldn't make it appear you are defending that in any way.

Please, I beg you, do NOT break this child's spirit!

13. You should be proud of your daughter! As should her grandmother.
Please, continue to provide me faith in young people, because it's waning for me.

Just yesterday at work, one of our teenaged bussers to me said, "So? There's too many people in the world, anyway. This is God's way of making it even."

15. Good for your daughter
and good for you! :hug::hug:

It's clear that the media still works to divide people along racial lines. Somewhere on DU are 2 different pictures...One caption described people (white people) finding food. The other was a picture of a (black) looter.

You'd like to think the 60s were 40 years ago; but it just ain't so.

17. No, it's back to the 20's
In 1927 when NO flooded, black people were lined up and used as human sandbags to protect the city. This time they didn't even allow anyone that bit of "help".
