I know people SAW this with their own eyes and will be paying the price at the pump and the cascading economic hardships throughout the country. But in 24 hours the MSM has gone from "Where's the Feds???" to "Thank God George is comforting them!!!" and here we go again.

Besides, just because half his base turns against him...so what? The repuke congress as well as half the Dems won't even impeach him, so absolutely nothing will change.

it is just too damn big. MILLIONS of ppl are affected; even indirectly. Look; you have to realize that those americans we think are so stupid for voting for * were being EMOTIONALLY played by this admin. there is some SERIOUS outrage being shown on and by the media. normally, things are just swept under, but this time CNN especially is hammering this failure.

Also, this isn't abstract. As much as i care about issues such as Plame, Halliburton, Iraq, DSM, Gitmo, and the 1000 other malfeances of this gov't, most Americans don't because the issues are too abstract. New Orleans is REAL. It is America. It is Jazz, Blues, Creole, Mardi Gras. It represents that great ideal of a melting pot. And we all lost it. All Americans can feel vulnerable and it is very real to them in a way a splendid, chest-thumping little war is not. Everyone has to pay... less security (KNOWING that a terrorist attack will catch us equally unprepared), more economic woes (gas is the ULTIMATE ripple-er in our fuel hog economy), an entirely displaced populace (with the resultant humanitarian crises of disease, supplies, and desperation), and the ultimate loss of one of America's crown jewel cities.

This is NOT going to fade.

Fatalism sets in. People are saying "well, what could the President have done to stop the hurricane? or "it takes awhile to get the supplies in."

Gas prices? Well, it's the hurricane disruption, they say. Food through the roof, airline flights canceled, UPS slow down, jobs lost? Well, it's a rough patch, they say.

MSM might be a funhouse mirror, but it sure as hell is like a hypnotizing machine to millions in this country.

In fact, I've been listening to local (AL) radio the past few days (started to when I lost power) - and ALL the stations - rock, R&B, all of them are pushing the PRAY FOR THE PRESIDENT AND PRAY FOR THE VICTIMS.

are really self-centered and don't necessarily resort to ideology as their gas prices start to skyrocket. They'll blame the President, whoever that happens to be.

Of course, there's Bush's hard core - nothing will ever reach them. Reason, facts, and morality are no match for their blind devotion. But I really think the combination of high gas prices, the continuing tragedy of New Orleans, and the fact that the administration has received some MSM blame for underfunding levee inspection and repair, has these asshats on the ropes. Not that they might not squirm out yet again, but let's just say I'm still optimistic.

14. You must know by now that they would be spinning damage

control. The fact is the MSM had three days to tell the truth before the propaganda bus rolled in, so it's there on record and a lot of people who don't read saw it.

Also, the hurricane hit three states that are big Bush supporters, but when they are looking at the LIE in the face, they are finally going to have to remove their blinders and start asking questions.

I really hope so anyway.

17. I know how you feel

Today I saw anger at bush from most of the people in my area. First time ever since I've lived here that I agreed with the majority. They were bitching at the supply house, at the post office, at the gas station and the majority of my clients were po'd. The common theme was NOLA is dying and bush and his admin have failed them.

I want to be hopeful but I've been burned too many times to let myself.

I get home and I now see bush and pickles doing the PR thing on the news. I'm beginning to hear more about passing the blame off on the local leadership of LA.

My brain tells me they can't hide whats been done in NOLA one minute, and then they'll get out of it somehow the next.

Usually, Bush goes on TV, goes "blah blah blah not my fault" or whatever, and the fair and balanced talking heads have someone on to refute his words and let his lies stand as facts that just happen to be from a different perspective.

We're so used to seeing his spin working that we assume that now that he's shown up, several days late and several dollars short, his old black magic is going to work again.

However, the country and the world have been transfixed by what is going on. There are pictures and unending news coverage of just how massive and egregious this failure is. And if it hasn't started already, people are going to start asking themselves "Wasn't he supposed to be the one who's GOOD on terror/preparedness?"

The pictures are what will make the difference. There weren't any OMG pictures of Sibel Edmonds or election fraud or missing WMDs, and there haven't been many pictures of the war, either. This is different. Nobody can forget what we've seen on TV in the past week.
