Imagine this. Just imagine.
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 03:27 PM by nonconformist
September 11 2001 - Terrorists attack NYC, Pentagon

September 12 - Nobody from the Bush admin has addressed the nation. Bush has birthday cake with one of his Republican buddies, then attends a fundraiser. Still on vacation after nearly a month.

September 13 - Still no government response. All relief expected to be handled by local authorities for the most part. Offers of international aid declined. Bush has a photo-op with a guitar. Still on vacation after nearly a month.

September 14 - Bush finally cuts his month-long vacation "short" by two days. Addresses the nation for 1 minute and 35 seconds. Still no visible government response. Secretary of State is shopping in NYC and attending plays.

September 15 - Still no visible government response. No government leadership. Baghdad Bob comes out of nowhere, talking about how everything is going "well".

September 16 - Bush has meaningless photo-op and worthless statements are made to the press. Coincidentally, the relief starts coming in right after this. Vice President is still on vacation - fly fishing in Wyoming.

CAN YOU IMAGINE? Would this response had been acceptable to ANY person in this country?

This country has experienced the worst national disaster in her history. A major US city is UNDER WATER. The entire Gulf coast has been leveled. People are dying in the streets - not from the storm, but from dehydration while they wait for rescue. The number dead will eclipse the number dead on 9/11 by very, very many. This government acted like it was a fucking tornado watch until the outrage was palpable.

edit: typo

Excellent post.

BTW, last year...

At least 1.5 million Cubans were evacuated to higher ground ahead of the storm, and early Monday, Cuban President Fidel Castro toured parts of western Cuba, which was ravaged by Hurricane Charley a month ago.

If Al Qaeda hit East New York, Brownsville or the South Bronx on 9/11 your hypothetical would have been reality
(except that Sec. of State Rice would've been shopping in Hollywood or something)

15. You forgot appointing Clinton and Poppy Bush to drum up $$$ to pay for...
...reconstruction of the twin towers. Congress takes a week to trickle back from vacation to appropriate money to help survivors. People manage to evacuate themselves from the twin towers, and police keep them near the buildings so they don't wander all over New York, promising them food and water that is never delivered. The survivors of the twin towers collapse who are still alive are finally evacuated from the twin towers area a week later.

17. Yes, I get your point - but
this is also proof that 9/11 WAS pre-planned. Otherwise the government's response to 9/11 would have been exactly like you said.

This time, they had no play-acting ready. The chimp just needed those 5 days to learn his script.

23. Excellent post - puts alot into perspective.
As one poster put it - * was right there in NYC because THEY PLANNED IT that way. This was there launch pad.

NOLA?? Was not in their plans - but hey, wait alittle bit and MORE PEOPLE DIE - people they do not care about.

Your post should be brought to everyone's attention. It is indicative of this evil administration.

24. The bush admin dragged their feet on 9/11 also, but not like this.
I live in Manhattan, and I was screaming in the days immediately after that the federal government was barely visible. The search for survivors seemed like only an NYC operation. 9/11 was on a Tuesday, and bush showed up in NYC on Friday for his photo-op.

Without a doubt, race is the reason for what we has happened this week. But the BFEE hates New York as much as they do poor black people. The big difference between the two is that 9/11 received round-the-clock attention because of the uncertainty about if something else would happen next, and it was also given enormous attention by the BFEE and the media because it was needed to rally the public to support PNAC's wars.
