I Thought It Would Take Thousands Of American Deaths To Get The R's Out

I feared that it would take thousands of American deaths to force the Republican Party out of power--but I wasn't expecting the scale and speed of those deaths. I thought that the deaths caused by the Gee Dubya Boojum mal-administration would be the sort of quiet deaths of a thousand cuts--the deaths by malnutrition caused by food aid cuts, the deaths caused by insulin and medication shortages caused by medical cuts, the deaths on the highways caused by safety and mass transit subsidy cuts, the deaths from cancer and other diseases caused by cuts to environmental quality enforcement--but not the deaths caused on a grand scale by this sort of folly laid on top of a natural disaster.

I also remember that this hurricane season still has a long way to run, and that we still face the 2006, 2007, and 2008 hurricane seasons, not to mention the war in Iraq and the possibility of other natural disasters.
