Anyone remember old Johnny Horton song: Battle of N.O.?
i rewrote the lyrics....too much time on my hands, I guess.

Not trying to be flippant; this just came to me.
if it's too disrespectful (to the victims, not Bush) it can be deleted.

In 2005 we took a little trip
long with President Bush down the mighty mississip'
We took a little pork and we took a little b.s.
And we fought the bloody poor folks in the town of New Orleans.

We spewed some bullshit and the poor kept a dyin'
There wasn't as many as there was a while go
We spewed once more and stiffs began floatin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

We looked down the river and we see'd the press comin'
And there musta been a hund'erd of 'em beatin' the media drum
They stepped so high and they had their cameras runnin'
Bush stood beside the microphone and didn't say a thing.

CHORUS

Old Bush said he's sure the levess wouldn't fail
If Robertson could pray the storm away from here
He sat on his hands til thousands started dyin'
then he tried to do somethin' cuz his numbers fell
REPEAT 1ST CHORUS

2ND CHORUS
Yeah! they ran from their actions tryin' to get a foto op
And they ran from the poor folks cuz they hate 'em
They ran so fast floating bodies couldn't catch 'em
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

Well he stifled dissent til people filled the streets
So he grabbed another minion he hoped would take the heat
they filled his head with platitudes and sent him on his way
And when the truth came out, the president lost his mind.

REPEAT 1ST CHORUS

REPEAT 2ND CHORUSA

for comparison purposes, here's the original:

In 1814 we took a little trip
A- long with Col. Jackson down the mighty mississip'
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we Caught the bloody British in a town in New Orleans.

CHORUS

We fired our guns and the British kept a comin'
There wasn't as many as there was a while a- go
We fired once more and they began to runnin'
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexi- co.

We looked down the river and we see'd the British come
And there musta been a hund'erd of 'em beatin' on the drum
They stepped so high and they made their bugles ring
We stood beside our cotton bales and didn't say a thing.

CHORUS

Old Hick'ry said we could take 'em by su'prise
If we didn't fire our musket till we looked 'em in the eyes
We held our fire till we see'd their faces well
Then we opened up with squirrel guns and really gave 'em ... Well -

REPEAT 1ST CHORUS

2ND CHORUS
Yeah! they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn't go
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn't catch 'em
On down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexi- co.

We fired our cannon till the barrel melted down
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round
We filled his head with cannonballs and powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off, the 'gator lost his mind.

REPEAT 1ST CHORUS

REPEAT 2ND CHORUSA
