sorry if a dupe

http://www.cnn.com/2005/WEATHER/09/01/katrina.fema.brown/index.html

The director of the Federal Emergency Management Agency said Thursday those New Orleans residents who chose not to heed warnings to evacuate before Hurricane Katrina bear some responsibility for their fates.

Michael Brown also agreed with other public officials that the death toll in the city could reach into the thousands.

"Unfortunately, that's going to be attributable a lot to people who did not heed the advance warnings," Brown told CNN.

Blame the victims? As if many of those suffering had any way of leaving the city? Where were the lines of buses to evacuate all those people who couldn't afford to leave New Orleans under the "mandatory evacuation"???

This tragedy mighth have been caused by nature, but it is the FAULT of the government for not helping the most vulnerable people leave the area that it has become the catastrophe that it is....

:grr:

and for YEARS weather scientists have been saying a big bad ugly storm{s} is coming our way.

no, it's not the victims fault -- it's the fault of the people we rely on to make intelligent decisions to keep us ALL safe.
