An urgent request from FEMA director Michael Brown

Federal Emergency Management Agency Director Michael Brown called for patience in the wake of Hurricane Katrina.

"Response operations are being conducted over a disaster area of nearly 90,000 square miles — the biggest single disaster response in our nation's history. This is a catastrophic event, and it takes time to get assets to victims over this large area," said Brown. "We ask for patience from individuals who may be uncomfortable but are safe while we conduct search and rescue efforts for those who are stranded and without commodities."

Later, in conversation with this poster Mr. Brown added, "We would also like to make an urgent request of all those who have not yet been rescued that they temporarily reduce their rate of dehydration. We understand that this may be difficult for some, but it is only temporary. This measure is intended to give FEMA the time it needs to correct its recto-cranial inversion."

ok, I get that going house to house and checking for all survivors will take time, and be difficult.

But the people who are gathered in large groups...Superdome, Convention Center, the highway overpass, etc. There's no excuse, there. None.

They should have had water long ago.
