RACE RELATIONS in this country will never be the same!
Edited on Fri Sep-02-05 12:51 AM by autorank
This is it:

--four years of * neglect;

--racism infusing policies at every level;

--a direct attack on the right to vote in Ohio and around the country;

--stolen elections in 2000, 2002, 2004

--malign neglect of the needs of black America, AND NOW

--the suffering, torture and de facto murder of black Americans represents a stunning and bold manifestation of RACISM.

WHERE IS OUR PARTY? WHAT ARE OUR LEADERS DOING? SILENCE...WEAKNESS...COWARDICE...THE LEGACY THEY LEAVE US

7. Saw some tourists stranded in a hotel from Scotland.
They were freaked out, totally. Nobody even near the neighborhood. It looked like the Place d'Armes or near by. They said they'd asked the American guests leaving for rides out of town. They were refused because the guests had too much luggage and there wasn't room. They'll have some stories to tell the British tabloids. Lord alive!

18. Just amazing. Those people may not make it.
How hard is it? Oh I forgot, it's "too dangerous." Remember the shot of the neighborhood...there was nobody out there. Yikes!

3. You are right. In this case it is coalesed into poor and black.

This is stunning, as is the silence of our leaders.

On January 6, 2005 there was just one Senator who would stand up and call Ohio what it was--a stolen electioin, accomplished largely through black voter suppression.

Today, there isn't even one Democratic leader anywhere who stands up and says that this is a race crime. Where are they? Don't they get it?

Maybe they really are as stupid as we think they are? Now that's truly frightening.

5. Oh fuck "race AND class" tit for tat petty bullshit-- people are DYING
If folks want to think its about income level, then ask yourself why by COINCIDENCE so many of those damn poor people end up being brown-skinned.

:puke:

Yes, it's race and class and why is that showing up on DU as if it MEANS something, as if it COUNTERS something, as it we should argue about it.

21. FEMA just told CNN they only heard of food needs this morning...
Jamey McIntyre reported this, uncritically, and Nancy Grace yelled at him.

This is a race crime, it is a cover up already, it is gross negligence.

Every body needs to ask themselves, are we next?

6. I have to wonder if treatment was all that different before 2001...
... or whether we just started noticing some of what the objects of discrimination have been facing for years.

11. Yes, and I thought of that when I was posting...
... but Bill Clinton being called that, along with his extraordinary empathy, has little to do with how empathetic we were.

12. It's different. * and crew think people stayed by 'choice.'
That's what the head of FEMA said today, staing was a matter of choice.

I'm also convinced that there is a lot less "shooting" and "lawlessness" than we hear about. That's the bull shit excuse to justify no relief.

This is racism, pure and simple.

Wait until they start the 'shoot to kill' orders in NOLA and pick off mothers trying to find food and water for their children.

The scab is off the wound - now the bleeding will start.

19. The only way is if WE fight and succeed to get these
people impeached.
We may have a chance then.
However...unless that is done before the talleys of the deaths come in--I fear there will be riots in the streets from the victims of this hurricane.
They can't shut them up forever. What these people lived and saw was criminal.
They have stories and they will tell them.
I only hope we still have the ear of the MSM then.
