One chopper fired on...Food/water for tens of thousands of people stopped?
Edited on Thu Sep-01-05 11:42 PM by jsamuel
So one chopper and pilot incident is worth more than food or water for tens of thousands of people?

Where is American courage and resilience?

What is going on?

Are they really not dropping food or water because of this?

10. Another reason to keep sending my money elsewhere
The Red Cross was slow on Sept 11th and dumped the Director for daring to suggest that they get a move on setting up at the Pentagon site now they are setting up in Texas? Swell, I'll keep sending my money somewhere with a lower overhead and more guts

Listening to LA state trooper scanner and...
...it looks like 4 trucks with MRE's and water may have just gotten through to the Superdome.

6. This is bullshit. I feel it in my bones
I'll bet a 100 bucks someone was shooting in the air to get attention to get rescued.

7. I have two questions about that.
What kind of guns did these people have to be able to hit a chopper?

If this chopper was bringing food and water to stranded people, why didn't the others on the ground stop the shooters?

Oh, I lied, I have one more question. How in the hell can on chopper carry enough food and water to feed tins of thousnads of people??? I know they have some pretty big ones, but that's just nuts!

11. The Neo-Cons want to practice up on Martial law techniques.
After the Joint Chiefs and the Bush Crime Family approve their next Operation Northwoods/9-11 false flag terror operation (Iran this time will be the boogey-nation) - they'll need to crack down across the nation.

Practice makes perfect.

YOU are the Neo-Con's real enemy,

And they have PLANS for you.

13. Jesse Jackson's speech earlier today spoke to this...
It was awesome... He said he was personally going to take 3 buses in and that 'they were not afraid of the people... a few people would not stop the evac of thousands'. Now, if Jesse Jackson can do this, WHY THE HELL CAN'T THE NATIONAL GUARD? Even if there was a sniper, are we really going to stop an evac of people dying from dehydration?!

I haven't heard any follow-up yet. Hoping for the best...

17. Damn good point. NG getting shot at daily in Iraq & won't pull out.
ONE fucking rumor of shots at a helicopter, and they pull out of N.O.

Something is seriously fucked up with that logic.

16. You know, if this happened, we think we know why....
DH and I have both experienced severe dehydration at various times. He said when he heard that something had been shot at that he considered that a a probable signalling attempt. After all, it doesn't take a lot of strength to fire a shot, it's far louder and more noticible than a shout, and you're almost guaranteed that someone will come looking for the shooter. Dehydration also interferes with the rational faculties, making it likely that a sufferer will make the poor decision to fire a gun....

For someone who is trying to survive, shooting to miss at a boat or bird is pretty much the last ditch attempt to get attention.

We don't believe the shots were necessarily malicious.

All we hear is we're over in Iraq to fight the good fight no matter the cost...

But then when it comes to Americans here, it is so easy for them to give up.

20. does anyone else think it's possible that those people might have been
firing straight into the air to get their attention to be rescued? Is it absolutely confirmed that it was malicious and an attempt to kill or maim the pilot?
