I don't care how many slams the right wing talkers aim toward Bush. They always slip in the visuals and other ways of slamming Dems and blacks.

Carlson is no different. I just walked in here and there he was interviewing a group of white Slidell residents. They're saying that they're banding together until help can arrive. And they're doing better than people in shelters. That statement by a resident followed by Carlson asserting that these people haven't received *any* government help. Well, golly!

And then Scarborough. He slammed the administration. Sure. But he then kept lumping the Louisiana governor with Bush.

Fuck them all. Subtle doesn't sink in with me. It's as glaring a body slam as being aware of New Orleans infants dying of dehydration. Fuck these right wingers all to hell as soon as the devil can get to each of their slimy souls.

When my college BF's parents moved there in 1978, it was so his dad, an electrical engineer working for Martin/Marietta could work with NASA on the shuttle's reusable fuel tanks. They weren't quite like the folks in the 9th ward. They were white, upper middle class.

bottom line is that it is not under 10 feet of water and many of the roads are passable in and out od Slidell from the north.

and of course all of these people have cars, bank accounts, direct deposit, atm cards, and insurance and usually family somewhere outside of the disaster area.

so they have the resources available to them.

My reason for posting was to show how the administration is pitting Americans against each other. We're shown white people who are supposed to look like they know what to do while blacks are shown as lawless. These are the talking points for tonight.

I'm afraid that Mike Malloy may also have a cogent point tonight. That being that the administration wants lawlessness so that they can urge the implementation of martial law and practice. If we're turned against the "lawless blacks of NO", we'll accept martial law as necessary.

How bad is it in Slidell? As bad as NO?

Are their houses or someone's house intact? They have food, water, etc?

How are they able to 'band together' until help can come?

Observations: If I lost everything tonite, I could start over. Not because I'm wealthy or even well off. I'm fine; it's just me. I have my family who can help and all are fine or fairly well off. They'd help. I have money in the bank, a 401K and a car.

That blond-haired senator (can't spell her name) said she lost her house too. Well fuck me with a spoon; I'll lay money down that EVERYTHING was insured and she'll recoup. Everything in my home is insured.

I would venture that most of the people I've been seeing on TV don't have insurance to recoup losses.

Oh and the people at the Convention Center banded together and were taking care of each other. They were fighting, pushing; they're waiting for help.

What the fuck is this? Blame the goddamned victims mentality....these people are US!

Mr CottonBear born in NO, later moved to Slidell (Jr and High school) grew up down near the zoo in NO. Our family in Lacombe survived. No flooding - tree damage and no electicity for 6-8 weeks. goddamn lucky - did not evac. Heard from them days later by way of ham radio to phone to his niece in KY. They are white and middle class and alive. They all voted for Bush because of abortion and gay marriage.

We are heartsick. Mr CB's childhood homes in NO and Slidell are most likely gone. We are so glad they (his sister and her kids and grandkids, cousins and their kids) are alive. We were supposed to visit over Labor Day.
We are so very sad.
