Maybe I've finally figured out Bush's non-response to NO
And it sickens me even more than he usually does.

Like most of us, I am in shock, unable to quite wrap my head around what I am witnessing in my own country. There MUST be an explanation beyond simple incompetence. Even if Bush was asleep under his desk in a Popov stupor, SOMEONE would have figured, "Hey, these people need help!" But no one did. Perhaps, just perhaps, the BFEE didn't want them helped yet.

Why not, you ask?

The answer may be more sickening than the pictures on the teevee, I fear.

1. they've been telling us for years they're not interested in helping
people who are suffering. Now we have to believe them.

particularly if those people are the non-white, non-bush voting millionaire types.

And Mike Malloy just played that clip a few seconds ago.

6. don't know much about eugenics
but what little I know makes it sound like what the Nazis were doing. It would not surprise me to see Bush is heavily into that....I know that we are not supposed to compare the Bush admin to Hitler, but I am sure that someone in that group read Mein Kampf and fully subscribes to all of the ideology in it. Maybe not directed at the Jews....but the same strategies.

9. Read the "War on the Weak"
Please read "War on the Weak" by Edwin Black. Eugenics had its start and funding right here in the USA.

10. They just don't really care
It's that combined with incompetence that makes the most sense. For example, any motivation you attach to the Iraq invasion on the administration's part--ANY motivation at all--can't explain the lack of postwar planning on its own. You have to factor in incompetence combined with simply not giving a shit about the aftermath, the lives of civilians, &c. Even with the basest motives, there's no reason that more could not have been done to protect the innocent in Iraq--for most of those basest motives, protecting the innocent would have been positively to their advantage. They just don't care, and they don't plan for what they don't care about. Case in point, the protection of the Oil Ministry and the utter lack of protection for ancient Babylonian treasures. They don't plan for what they don't care about, and they don't give a shit about the poor, just as they don't give a shit about civilians. The potential repercussions and political damages don't seem to have any impact on this behavior.
