The satellite phone/comm wasn't working for FEMA & NG after
the hurricane? Someone please explain that to me. I can understand cell phones not working, but I thought the satellite phones/communication system that the miltary uses would have been working so they could talk to one another. My husband thinks they are making up excuses, and he's usually right.

1. reporters were using theirs and loaning them to people
This was reported several times over Monday and Tuesday. A friend of mine got a call from her parents thanks to NBC's cameraman who felt sorry for them.

FEMA=LIARS

2. Absolutely Making Excuses
A satellite uplink should have worked even in the middle of the storm.

3. They recently had a drill type exercize.
That tested the communications links between national guard, State and municipal authorities. So when I first heard of this communications failure excuse, my antenna went up.

I think it's probably an excuse to cover up the failure to start soon enough (eg late last week) to get the response started.

4. They have HF radio available to them, too.
"FEMA and NG incommunicado" What a bunch of HORSESHIT!

Maybe if this had been hurricane Khalil they would have been prepared better?

6. I dunno. I don't watch that much Teeee-Veeee.
When I was in the Belly of the Beast, we used to schedule those tests between 9 and 5, like the rules said to.
