"So, LA can't take care of itself?"
This is part of an actual excerpt from a comment about Katrina, the levee breaking and damage to New Orleans posted at another message board I frequent. By one of my formerly favorite folks there. Other remarks from that comment--one of the most irrational defenses of Bush and the war I have yet encountered, include this poster's bullshit opinion that NO officials "should have fixed the problems with the levee themselves." "How long have they known about those problems?" this moron asks. "A lot longer than the war has been going on, I'll bet." According to this person, if NO officials hadn't been so busy "lining their pockets with the Mardi Gras funds" and securing their citizens, they would have been better prepared to meet this catastrophe.

My head is about to explode, people.

2. I just--such ignorance.
As someone else on that board pointed out, the Corps of Engineers built the levee, NO officials had nothing to do with it. And de-prioritizing funding for emergency relief agencies was a direct result of *'s decision to divert as many necessary funds as possible to the war on terror.

5. My outrage meter has long since
exploded.

Words cannot express the hatred I feel for those in power in DC.

They all need to be taken to the Hague for crimes against humanity.

6. So, LA can't take care of itself?
Probably said by a thirty something loser who still lives with his parents, and has someone else taking care of them.

7. Oh, the sick part?
Health care worker. Allegedly in the West. Female. Two kids. Kinda makes you nervous about all the people that person's influence directly impacts everyday, doesn't it?

9. No, when you tie someone's hands and feet together they cannot
take care of themselves!!! Stupid ** policies of sending away the NG and gutting the funding.... he might as well have given the poor folk in NOLA concrete shoes before the storm hit.
