CBS Evening News tonight was not so bad...
I was wondering what others thought of the CBS news tonight. I don't get cable and rarely watch the nightly news but tonight I wanted to see more of what's happening in New Orleans and so I watched.

Surprisingly the coverage was decent. No blatant finger pointing at *Co-although we all know there should have been. But there also was no sugar coating of the lack of help, food and water as well as honest coverage of the suffering of the citizens of New Orleans.

I don't doubt that many people could conclude from the report that * Co is screwing up BIG TIME!

It was far from enough, but maybe there's a bit of hope from the Corporate Media after all.

1. CBS news was never as bad as cable news.
After they dumped Dan Rather I found a lot of the coverage more biased, but it doesn't seem like it has sunk that far down into propaganda. Tonight's show was good. I hope they find their way back again.

4. If you are ever up in the middle of the night...try
CBS Up to the Minute News. It's surprisingly honest and covers quite a bit more than you would expect.

5. Too late for me to be up, but maybe I'll hook up my VCR and
tape it from now on. Thanks. I never knew.

6. I hope you like it...
and I hope it doesn't disappoint.... because while I thought it was decent...it's not perfect and there's room for improvement. :)

2. I sobbed through most of it.
The story about the woman whose companion died of thirst right there on the interstate overpass, within sight of the SD, while waiting for help. They couldn't get to the SD because the road they were on didn't directly connect and they stayed up there because they were dry. The heat and the wait was too much for her.

Then, the guy that jumped from that overpass because he just couldn't wait any longer for someone to come and help him. The desperation is more than some can bear and it is only going to get worse before it gets better.

3. I cried too!
I think the people on the overpass story on CBS is going to rock old Bushie boys' world-and not in a good way! He won't know what hit him! Those babies, the pregnant woman, the husband and wife, the elderly parent with Alzheimer's, the man who couldn't take it any longer and killed himself!

ALL of us can relate to their stories, to their humanity, to their horrific situation!
