Bush Gives New Reason for Iraq War
Says US must prevent oil fields from falling into hands of terrorists

By Jennifer Loven

CORONADO, California - President Bush answered growing antiwar protests yesterday with a fresh reason for US troops to continue fighting in Iraq: protection of the country's vast oil fields, which he said would otherwise fall under the control of terrorist extremists.

The president, standing against a backdrop of the USS Ronald Reagan, the newest aircraft carrier in the Navy's fleet, said terrorists would be denied their goal of making Iraq a base from which to recruit followers, train them, and finance attacks.

''We will defeat the terrorists," Bush said. ''We will build a free Iraq that will fight terrorists instead of giving them aid and sanctuary."

<snip>
''If Zarqawi and bin Laden gain control of Iraq, they would create a new training ground for future terrorist attacks," Bush said. ''They'd seize oil fields to fund their ambitions. They could recruit more terrorists by claiming a historic victory over the United States and our coalition."

2. How many reasons does that make now?
Seven, eight? What's their next excuse, that the war was all just a figment of our imaginations?

6. and a scary truth it is!
and even more frightening is that they are saying it...presenting it as a reasonable explanation for war..and for invading the countries that have the oil that we want..and "need" for our own security...the fact that it seems now reasonable..so reasonable that they are presenting it publically...is perhaps the most frightening of all.

13. how long'd it take for You-Know-Who to mention "Lebensraum"
it took U-No-Poo all of 2 years after the invasion to fess up, and * and Kerry legitimized Lebensraum for Israel when they said that what the squatters and IDF take, they keep (heck, some DUers agree!)

I'd be willing to bet they'll still try to deny that oil's the reason we went in the first place, though.
"If Zarqawi and bin Laden gain control of Iraq, they would create a new training ground for future terrorist attacks," Bush said.
Newsflash, dumbass: it's already a training ground for future terrorist attacks. You'd know that if you weren't fucking taking vacations all the time.

5. The funny but sad thing is, this was the only reason all along....
We wrecked at least both countries near Iran for oil, and we're not protecting the oil from terrists we're protecting it for israelis and saudis and shipping it out by the truck fulls!!!

And we're basically stealing it and putting it right into our pumps, while the so called "insurgents" aka iraqi civilians do everything in their power to stop us. This is truly dispicable, and a total disgrace.

10. If BinLaden and Zarqawi tried to take the oil fields the very same
Iraqi insurgents that are fighting the US would turn to fighting them.

The Iraqis want control of their own oil, not to give it to us, or BinLaden.

Bullshit reason #23.

15. If the US and its 130,000 troops can't secure the oil fields...
...how the hell does he think feeble ass Zarqawi and Osama "The Phantom Menace" bin Laden will be able to?
