Is the lack of response just incompetence or intentional?
I just can't believe how long it is taking for the federal government to respond. The gov of LA and the Mayor of NO are on TV begging for federal help and still it is not there.

Would I be way out of line and considered some kind of kooky conspiracy theorist to think the slow response might be intentional?

I am considering: Nola is a minority city. It voted 77-22 for Kerry last November. The gov is a Dem. The Mayor is a Dem. Scattering the minorities over the rest of the south long term rather than letting them return to their homes in Nola would turn LA even more red.

We know how sick these bastards are. Could they be THAT sick?

1. If it was FL that was affected by this hurricane, I think we would
see a different response. Sad, but that is what I think. I think Bush would have rushed to his brother's side and would not have been dragging his feet like he did here.

It's incompetence (or evil - see sig) at the executive levels and (necessarily) intentional at the administrative levels. This regime only employs "preemptive action" for predatory purposes, not emergency preparedness purposes.

What we're witnessing is a "better late than never" debacle. These people are winging it - using incomplete 'strategies' and obsolete organizational approaches. (Remember, the Bushoilinis "reorganized" the federal bureaucracy without updating the organizational plans.) Figuring out who does what and when in preparation for foreseeable emergencies is a fundamental duty of civil defense in governance - and has been for millenia. Material stockpiles are depleted and resources erratically deployed.

These agencies and organizations SHOULD've been geared up and ready to go last week. This was all foreseeable.

6. It will cost taxpayers less if the seriously injured die
They are timing it to make it a search rather than a search and rescue

8. They have to wait until Rove has figured out how to politicize this.
Now that they have built a platform for Jeb Bush the Book Ends for Bush '08. They might allow the levee to be patched.

9. I'd say incompetence and indifference.
If Bush cared he would have canceled his vacation last weekend. It's been two days since the hurricane hit and he's just now getting back work or at least the appearance of getting back to work.
He should have been in the White House when Katrina was about to strike Miami.

10. So many unexplained lapses could make it lean to intentional.
Even if it wasn't intentional, it is nevertheless guilt ridden due to such conscious negligence.

So much doesn't make sense, and yet with this Administration's track record, it unfortunately does make sense.

Somebody it appears has been intentionally holding off on the proper actions to be taken. Why?

The choices that have been made have consciously averted addressing the needs of New Orleans.

How could they be seen otherwise? The information has been there and been known.
