Rush Limbaugh Caught in Drug Ring!
"Talk-radio titan Rush Limbaugh is being investigated for allegedly buying thousands of addictive painkillers from a black-market drug ring.

"The moralizing motormouth was turned in by his former housekeeper - who says she was Limbaugh's pill supplier for four years."

1. Money Quote
"There were times when I worried," Cline told the National Enquirer, which broke the story in an edition being published today. "All these pills are enough to kill an elephant - never mind a man."

I'd say!

Edited on Thu Oct-02-03 08:03 AM by Booberdawg
He makes millions. Is it possible to build up a tolerance for 90+ pills a day after 4 years? I just don't buy the selling.

on edit: the article says she provided him 4350 in a 47 day period, that's not the same to say he actually took all of them in that time. So I think this line of thought for selling is off base.

41. he probably procures for friends
he has a nice steady supply and was probbaly doing favors for friends. Either way, most states have threshold laws, meaning a certain amount automatically kicks in a distribution charge and i'm guessing 4000 pills in one month will probably hit that threshold.

50. Sad to say, but he could have been taking all of those pills
I've known a couple of downer/opiate addicts, and their tolerances were friggin' unbelievable. You could watch them throw down fifteen-twenty Xanex or similar downer, and they would remain concious and functional. To get into that nice downer high/unconciousness going, forty-fifty pills were required. Tolerance finally got so bad that had to start shooting the shit, and one finally died of an overdose-seven Delodads(sp) shot in the jugular. When you get hooked that bad, you start taking more and more just to stay "normal" forget about the buzz.

So perhaps Rush, especially given how large he is, simply has a huge monkey on his back and takes all of these himself. Sad but true.

52. Opiates suppress your respiratory system.
If you get too much in your system, you will stop breathing completely and die. I don't believe you can ever develope a tolerance with regard to your respiratory system, but I could be wrong. I don't know what he was taking, but I find it hard to believe someone could survive 90 vicodin or percoset a day. Especially, day after day.

He doesn't need the money. I would tend to assume that he also provided pills for his guests. Let's everybody party! Just the same, it's distribution. If he was black, he'd already be under the jail for life moving this quantity of product for so long.

it's just good manners to entertain your guests lavishly

Jesus H fucking Christ on a stick and Holy Nipples of Mary! No WONDER he is such a goddamn ASSHOLE! He's using all the time - he's a junkie! It never even crossed my mind! 4 years!

I guess that just blows the SHIT out of HIS credibility. GAWD! These goddamn moral, holier than thou Republican zealots, I swear. Right down the shitter with Bill Bennett.

We ALWAYS knew what phony bastards they are. Gawd, the shit is just flying fast and furious tonight. Unbelievable. Pigboy is a junkie for the last 4 years - no wonder he acts psychotic all the time. Damn.

Disclaimer - while I, and most likely most of us here, understand addiction to be a sickness, and not an issue of morality, that is not how the likes of pigboy, Bennett, and freeper zealots portray it. They rather see it as a reflection of character, or station in life. So excuse me while I take delight in pigboys self-imposed shame and humiliation.

39. i told my partner so some time back...
I feel a little smug now. To be honest, I assumed that he was on some sort of speed as well. It's a vicious trap, because the speed/coke that makes you lose weight can, for some people, cause sleeplessness and the resulting deep muscle pain and fatique...leading to the use of strong painkillers, which are strongly physically addictive.

No excuse needed for delighting in the scandal. Real people go to prison for abusing and sharing around this quantity of narcotics. Until all a regular Joe faces is some "embarrassment" for being caught with unprescribed painkillers, we have an obligation to call for an investigation and prosecution of drug use when enjoyed by the rich and influential. I am tired of his ilk being above the law. Very damn tired. If more rich drugs users were in prisons, we'd have 1000 percent better conditions in our prisons.

I do have sympathy for decent people like Elizabeth Taylor who get caught up in drugs, but this woman has made many efforts to be honest and to draw attention to her fine causes. She is not pretending to be high and mighty and above it all. Therefore, it is reasonable that we would have a natural sympathy for her affliction. No such sympathy can attach to evil creators of propaganda a la Rush.

forcing one's housekeeper into a life of crime is just tacky

Maybe that's where he got his first name, huh?

Some stories just smack of the truth (pun intended) when you hear them.

"His tone was nasty and bullying. He said, 'I don't care how or what you do, but you'd better - better! - get me some more,'" Cline said.

Just plain mean, that's what he is...

A program of rigorous honesty, you ask? Well, that is certainly something you claim to know a great deal about, isn't that so? It's amazing he's still alive. Can anyone really take that much and keep the body functioning? I don't even think cancer patients take anything along those lines.

Rush must have it bad. He has the means to fly to Mexico every few months and get what he needed outside of the country and no one would have been any wiser.

47. I dunno, but that's pretty heavy
to accuse someone of being part of a drug ring. The tabloids have been sued enough times to make them more careful than that. Plus Rush isn't their typical target, or at least I hadn't noticed him on any covers at the supermarket. I'm betting it's true. There must be a god, or maybe just some rich old Democratic bastard who's had enough.
