2.80 a gallon and some bittersweet irony

just filled up on the North Shore of Massachusetts, paid 2.79.9 a gallon. the headline in today's paper of record was GAS PRICES TO SURGE.

and the irony is this. Missisippi and alabama place highly on the list of what i have called "the welfare states"- those deeply red states that pay into ther federal government less in taxes than they extract. you'll recall thyat list pretty closely represents the bush base.

looks like they were getting screwed all along, too; when it comes to spending the bucks where it might make a difference.

welcome to the blues, my red friends. maybe now you can see that we weren't the problem.

this particular adminstration, and not the government, with its corporate bloodlust, is the problem.

ps- Haley Barbour, i'd tell you to go to hell, but i'm not sure you have enough of a soul to warrant the transfer, and besides, those in hell have enough on their plate without you down there pimping for bush.
