2. It's brutal out there.
Between Monday and Friday, we may see one of the largest increases in gas prices over a one week period in history.

5. Yeah, plenty of time to hit $5 by Labor Day. It's only Tuesday
Bet new car prices will come down some more though. Anybody signing a 60 month contract on a new car now had better be getting a helluva deal. Long time to make payments on a lawn ornament.

6. I think the national average could easily be over $3.20 or so.
It could be even worse than that. Katrina will initially cause such an economic shock that, combined with the housing bubble becoming unhinged, we could easily have a recession in 2006.

10. Recession? You're an optimist huh?
Edited on Tue Aug-30-05 10:52 PM by havocmom
Wish I could just expect a recession. The vision I get is more like the breakdown of everything, not unlike news outta NO right now. One thing after another until critical mass brings down the flood and everything washes away. But the rich will have left town.

High fuel cost is already hitting grocery prices. I live where those amber waves of grain grow. Only, even with record harvest this year, the harvesters are losing money because of the price of diesel. They said they are not even gonna combine next year. No way to do it. Stock up on bread if you have a freezer.

edit: typo

9. No Word On Port Fourchon/Rigs Yet
Today was just the speculative shock.

If news comes back that the LOOP, a lot of rigs, or most important a few big refineries were knocked out, we'll be going to $8/gal plus with a bullet, with possible rationing.
