Here is a breach. Photo

"Floodwaters from Hurricane Katrina flow over a levee along Inner Harbor Navigational Canal, New Orleans, on Tuesday."

Can't they get some drilling company to put in a coffer dam?

1. There is only one way in and out of NO right now
and it's partially submerged.

Most of the town is deserted.

I'm sure that such a plan is being considered, and might eventually be carried out, but right now - I've spent three days trying to contact someone in New Orleans, and it cannot be done. Communications are almost non-existent.

Anything that is going to be done is going to take time, just becuase of the logistics involved. It's horribly frustrating.

4. Looks like plenty of water
for Grover Norquist to drown the government in.

Twenty years of "starving the beast" and this is what we get.

5. dropping loads of sandbags from helicopters
They could be dropping loads of sandbags from helicopters. This has been a known issue since about 1:50 am and nothing has been done.

6. That's what happens when you don't have a friggin' plan
Billions spent on Homeland Security and they don't have a friggin' plan.

7. Water Is Flowing From The Back Side Of The Levee Into The Canal
This is the Ward 9 area we are hearing about.

It sounds like this area was filled by storm surge, and the water is now draining out.

Closing this levee breech would worsen the situation.

8. Why is it so hard for CNN to cover this?
Isn't this where the survival of the city is going to be determined? I'm not watch every network or all the time, but I see hardly anything but recycled video.

I'd really like to see the efforts to close the breech.
