1. No
I hope not she has two young kids. Hell they would be in college about the time she would get out.

21. Just a point here, but Mary Matalin left the White House in December of 02
So while she has worked on and off as a talking head, I don't think it was her in July of 03.

3. Carville would NEVER see that happen--Cheney would go down first.
James Carville would NEVER stand to see that happen to his wife.

I'm sure before that whole thing was over, he'd have Cheney's political head on a platter.

If Matalin is implicated, the whole house of cards is going to fall.

7. The couple prolly doesn't talk about things like that.

Well, for starters, I think Matalin is not on the "inside" with the Libby/Rove boys because everyone knows she's married to Carville. That's my own personal opinion.

I don't think they get into inner working things with each other, and I'd imagine that Matalin is defending them and Carville is looking at this thing going 'ooh they're gonna get in trouble'. Let things take their own course, so to speak.

And he is doing his part, helping the candidates, etc.

But the instant Matalin is implicated, all bets are off. Talk about your Ragin' Cajun, he's going to go berserk.

8. I bet they do talk about the inner workings.
Wasn't Mr. Carville in some South American country a while back helping somebody with an election?

10. I mean in regards to each other's 'secrets'.
For example, I don't think Carville fed Matalin info about Bill Clinton in 1992 when she was working for Poppy Bush's campaign, and vice versa.

6. Can just see that bunch blaming Mary
Matlin - after all she's already gone. I don't believe for a minute she had anything to do with this. Maybe she didn't like what she was seeing in that office and that was why she left.

17. She's a decent person who may have been put up to it
When she found out what was really going on, the may have been her cue to get out of that den of snakes. Carville was particularly pissed at Novak yesterday on Crossfire, especially after Novak made some insensitive joke about people who had lost their health insurance. I thought Carville was going to jump across the desk and punch his lights out. Perhaps he had another grudge as well.

11. Is Mary the culprit or the fall guy?
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 06:46 PM by Snellius
She worked for Cheney at EOB.
She was Cheney's point person for PR and the press.
Why did Drudge put her picture in his rogue's gallery of suspects yesterday? No one had pointed a finger at her. Who called Drudge?
Why did she leave the WH?
Wouldn't it be ironic on Crossfire, like yesterday, if Novak the target of the leak, was sitting across from his cohost, James Carville, the spouse of the source of the leak?

13. I thought the same thing about Matalin
when I saw her picture on Drudge. Why was it there among all the usual suspects? Yes, I can see Cheney/Rove getting Matalin to do this- whether she was officially resigned at the time this was done doesn't matter; she is so loyal to the Bush family and is mean as a snake. Yes, I can see her doing it.

18. Blaming Matlin takes the heat
off Cheney. I don't think so - don't believe she would do it.

15. What it could boil down to is James Carville versus Amb. Wilson?
Each defending their wives. Ayeee, the scorchmarks!

14. I think they are fucking sick in the head
If Carville believes what he says (often eloquently), then he should be physically sick to be near her.

F**k her. People who think they can carry water for evil and not be evil are evil

There.

20. SOMEBODY ought to do a "PERP WALK!"
....I wanna see Rove trotting along in cuffs, trying to keep his jacket over his head, FBI agents on either side of him, repoters trying to keep up while shouting questions at him.

"Mr. Rove! Do you feel your actions could have done irreparable damage to America's intelligence-gathering capabilities?"

"Mr. Rove! Many people are saying you could have gotten agents in the field killed! Do you have a response?"

"Mr. Rove! Do you expect to be indicted? Do you plan to join the 'drop the soap league' at the federal penitentiary?"

these people are so very, very sick they never should have been allowed to put their hands on the levers of government.
