It's obvious that the Repubs have a brand new sparkling talking point...
It's a simple one. Iraq was a great victory. It was fantastic. It was a superb military effort. This has been the word that Dick Cheney passed to the Republican caucus a couple of days ago and, if you notice, they have been using it more and more. They must not be allowed to spread such bullshit without a challenge.

2. How far do they think that's going to fly with KIAs every day?...
...Cheney and the rest of the Bushies must be really nervous to want to cling to such a flimsy talking point.

3. They can say it all they want to
It's not going to make troops dying fade off the news screen.

This was the first war we ever got into where people were mobilized and vehement before things started and they were split on pretty clear lines.

Obviously many of the things that so terrified those people who were certain that Iraq was an immediate danger have evaporated. Some people realize they have been lied to and are angry, and some of them really are just sheep who don't mind being lied to as long as they are led. This crowd makes up about 30% of the country.

9. I'm sure they can show that..
I'm sure they will just to suck up to W. But one way or another it's still all about the ratings. What sells more viewership? The new coat of paint on the school or a crowd of enraged Iraqi's throwing stones and being mowed down by automatic weapon fire.

5. Will just bring home the fact even stronger
that this administration is full of serial liars. If things are going so well - WHY THE NATIONAL GUARD????? Nope, these guys are going to continue to die off like flies - this is their last desperate attempt to put the sheeple back to sleep. No worries, nothing to see here, go about your business.

11. They are setting themselves up to look ridiculous
Eventually the day to day facts will make them look as credible as the Iraqi Minister of Truth. My glass is half-full today.

WH: Everything is great

Headlines: Iraqis riot

WH: Amazing progress

Headlines: More soldiers ambushed

WH: We dug a well

Headlines: Iraqis have no electricity

WH: We hired Iraqi policemen

Headlines: We accidentally shot Iraqi policemen

13. Howard Fineman explained it all to us the other night; weren't you
listening. Here's how it goes, children. The White House is concerned about the economy BUT not the Iraq war. They feel they can paint that war in absolutes of black and white and the people will understand and buy it because that's the way people think. The people will not buy into the mushy, all ove the place, reasoning of the Dems that gets into the fine points of working with NATO or international organizations, or other nations, etc. In a word, children, Howard is telling us that the administration is pretty damn sure that the dumb fucks in this country can't think and thus, just buy black or white. So, Dems, we better put any "solutions to Iraq" theories in the form of: See Dick Run. See Jane smile.

15. the Problem w/ Repugs Focusing on the Economy
much like when they focus on foreign policy, it seems like whenever they take some steps to help the economy, it makes the economy much worse.

if i didn't know better, i might find myself agreeing with the unanimous opinion of all accredited economists no presently employed by cato, aei, or the white house (same difference), and think that trickle-down economics doesn't work.

14. Hey, Bush has brought Iraq and US closer together.

First he brought US record unemployement, and now he's brought an unemployment crisis to Iraq.

First he left our economy in a shambles, now he's leaving Iraq's economy in a shambles.

He's building a sham government in Iraq to match the sham government he built here.

Everywhere you look, Bush is exporting his failures to Iraq. I guess that could be called fostering equality, or something.
