At least, the forces of Christian principles are seen to prevail in this country in this case!!

"Martti Ojares said that his television station would monitor Robertson's behaviour. For now, his programme will not be shown on Taivas TV7. "

1. Good for Finland!

I wish our own TV stations could do the same. Too bad our FCC is worthless. OMG tits on TV! Noooo, they must be fined.

2. Not mentioned is that average daily viewership of the...
... "700 Club" in Finland was about eighty-seven people. No great loss to the broadcaster. :)

9. It caught the attention of the world media
Edited on Sat Aug-27-05 05:34 AM by jmatthan
I just do not get your point and relevance of pointing out that the 700 Club in Finland reaches 87 people!!

How many people read the Helsingin Saanomat which carried this news?

Are we trying to influence the 700 Club or world opinion?

Or would you rather that the Finnish TV continued to let Pat Robertson carry on his tirade undeterred that soem people may object?

When a country like Finland takes an action and that shows up in its mainstream and major newspapers, in Finnish, Swedish and English, a lot of people get to see the information.

Many Americans of Finnish origin look at these pages and it carries otherwise closed information even to a section of the US population.

Just remember that the US media is not the world media.

10. What I am saying is that...
... the 700 Club--and Robertson--don't bear much consideration in Finland, I would imagine. I am doubting that Robertson had any more than a very minor share of the viewership in Finland to begin with.

If you have evidence of a large viewership of him in Finland, I think that would be a sociological point of interest, and I would certainly not joke about it. But, I sincerely doubt it. He's got an audience of less than 1.8% of households in this country, the program's country of origin and the target audience for which the program is produced.

Cheers.

11. What I am saying is

that the fact that he said it and that there was a minuscule number of people who watch him was immaterial.

The mainstream media in Finland and now Sweden have caught onto the right wing religious fundamentalists and lambasted them. It was the second story on today's main 8:30 pm TV news here in Finland.

Pat Robertson has become the laughing stock in both Sweden and Finland.

They had some other guy talking about the Swedish King - and they both stood out as the idiots they are!!

5. The Finns obviously have good taste...
...wish some of it would rub off on our US broadcasters. Pat Robertson, along with his pal Falwell, is a cockroach a can of Raid couldn't kill.

14. Hooray! Now if only people would join me in badgering
media outlets for progressive religious programming. I say it can happen. AAR is thriving, I am sure anti-700 clubs would as well.
