Inspired by a report of the "first scandal" of the Bush administration I think we should make a list of ALL of the scandal's they have been involved in.

1. SEC violations, Land grab for ballpark, AWOL
If memory serves the precedent was set that allowed the inclusion of things that happened BEFORE getting in the White House.

4. The lies about the Clintons trashing the WH
Remember the missing W keys from the typewriters and computer keyboards? Bush and Fleischer responded with "We're going to change the tone, so we're not going to talk about this."

I don't know if you'd call the redistricting in Texas or the recall in CA "scandals".

Also, this is somewhat related to Enron, but the Cheney energy commission occurring during the CA energy crisis, and Cheney and Bush stating that the free market was the best solution, in the face of evidence that CA was being gamed by some of Bush-Cheney's largest campaign contributors and likely participants in the Cheney commission.

Harvey Pitt convening secret meetings w/ CEOs.

6. Too numerous to get them all
But let's go back to the early days. We picked up the stories of the trashing of the White House and Air Force One, both of which were lies. How about the submarine collision with the Japanese fishing boat? Or the spy plane incident with China, and the lie about the non-apology apology?

The one-day economic summit in Waco last August, when Lil George popped in and out of a couple of discussion sessions and then said he would read the full transcripts later, but he had to get going now. I'd bet a dollar to a hole in a doughnut that if you asked about that at a press availability, you'd receive a blank stare.

The budget projections of one billion dollar surplus for fiscal 2002 as the driving factor for the tax cuts in 2001.

Gotta go now, I'm nauseating myself.

when Poppy was president? Then there's Arbusto or Spectrum 7 getting a big oil drilling deal with the Saudis even though they had never done a certain type of oil drilling before...

8. Pressuring the EPA to lie about air quality in NYC after 9-11.
After posturing with the firemen and police for a photo-op, the scrubbing of the EPA report will ensure that many of these people, as well as citizens of NYC, will DIE prematurely.

IMHO, this scandal was blown away too quickly. After all, a President's main concern s/b the safety of the citizens and an administration that would do this INTENTIONALLY is capable of anything as most of us have realized for quite some time.

11. forgot about that one
and i live and work downtown. damn. yeah, that one pissed me off the most. these people simply don't care about the well-being of Americans.

also, the Kyoto accords.

and if we're talking about pre-2000 stuff, what about the bin Ladens investing money in Harken? or his non-denial of using cocaine? or his DUI conviction, and subsequent lie about it? or his 1 year AWOL from the National Guard?

and certainly, his administration flying the entire bin Laden clan out of the US in the days after 9/11 has to be a huge scandal. as should his administration's refusal to allow an independent 9/11 investigation, or even a meaningful 9/11 investigation.
