From NYT: "If all Republicans stay on board, the story goes away"
Isn't this the general plan of conspirators?

From the next to the last paragraph in the article...

<snip>

The general view inside the White House among senior staff is that this is going to create a few rocky political days, that it's mainly the Democrats pushing it and that if all the Republicans stay on board, the story goes away," a Republican worker with close ties to the White House said.

1. I'm sure they would love to believe this
but no, there's no way this is going away. They're overlooking the small point that A SERIOUS CRIME WAS COMMITTED. This ain't no blow job. I think most people realize that blowing the cover of a CIA officer who was dedicated to getting rid of WMD has done great harm to our security.

2. This is why we cannot allow the Justice Department to
be the one that investigates and prosecutes this thing. Someone has got to find some "hard" conflict of interest evidence.

6. What Republicans Might Speak Out In Support of Special Prosecutor?
Edited on Wed Oct-01-03 06:53 AM by Justice
There is some truth in the NYT article. If one republican would speak out against the DOJ investigating -- that would be a watershed moment. Perhaps the polls and the slow drip of information (Rove working on Ashcroft's campaign, the Nightline statements last night) will create the momentum.

Here in MA, when our republican governor wanted to do away with the UMASS President William Bulger - it was largely ignored. When our Democratic AG came out and said Bulger should step down - suddenly the story ignited.

This situation is legitimately serious. It really shows the true colors of the republican party when you have senators and other high level officials NOT speaking out against this behavior and saying country above party. Porter Goss and Shelby - both former CIA people above all should be speaking out and saying country above party. The fact they are not is disgusting.

7. Followup
One Last Thought - Look for Articles where rebublicans people like Shelby and Goss) speak out for protection of the CIA and its agents. Let's feed their words back to them.

5. Lets be honest with ourselves.....
This is an uphill battle. Crime or no crime, they, the repugs, hold all the face cards. They control all branches of the government!

I'm skeptical here. Justice may not be served once again. I don't know when the people will realize this, if ever. We have been in this political quagmire for a long time now and still folks are deaf to the voices of reason.
