I know what burns Rove about Joe Wilson
It's a culture war.

Joe Wilson: handsome son of expat parents who worked as foreign correspondents in Europe, witty people with cultural cachet. Wilson dabbles in surfing, hippiedom, and undoubtedly has long hair and smokes dope. Speaks fluent french and no doubt has excellent taste in wine, music, and film. Wilson works his ass off in his career, becomes a hero for protecting Americans caught in Iraq during the Gulf War.

Karl Rove: his father abandoned the family on Christmas day when Karl was a child. Poor and disadvantaged, and treated with cruelty. Fate treats him unkindly in the area of personal attractiveness. A fat guy, probably low self-esteem. Builds power through sleaze, dirty tricks, gutterball reputation. Finds a true cipher with a good name and builds him to be a sock puppet president. Rove's position in the world now exceeds his abilities, and he can only hold things together through the old tactics of intimidation and dirt.

This is why Rove took the Wilsons down. They are everything he wasn't and can't be. Upper class. Attractive. Confident. Accomplished, without resorting to gutterball psycho machinations.

Rove simply went mad.

15. ha ha!
Lots of people were abandoned by their fathers and didn't turn into ruthless assholes. Bill (Blythe) Clinton springs to mind. Just like every kid who had an abusive alcoholic parent didn't turn into a Josef Stalin or Ted Bundy. Karl Rove is his own man. The skip-away daddy is an interesting angle on understanding him, but never an excuse for trying to ruin the country.

As Roseanne once said on her show "The statute of limitations on bad parenting runs out at 35."

16. Don't feel sorry for Lee Atwater's heir
His parents' marriage had ended on his nineteenth birthday-Christmas Day, 1969-when his father walked out. Then, shortly afterward, Rove received a second and more unexpected blow. In Illinois, he had dinner with an aunt and uncle, and, during a discussion of his parents divorce negotiations, they casually mentioned that the man he thought of as his father actually wasn't. "I literally, I think, dropped my soda," Rove told me, in one of three long interviews we had in his office in the West Wing of the White House. In a family of five siblings, he and an older brother were the children of another man, whose connection to his mother had been kept secret, at her insistence, all the time he'd been growing up.

Now what was that comment Ann Coulter made about Bill Clinton's mother?

20. Rove is 1 of 5 kids?
there's always a good apple in every box. I wonder if any of his siblings can help America see the light about Rove?

Hah! I wonder who his biological father is/was? hmmmmm. Need to look at those genetics. Lord, it was probably some rich, influential democrat! McGovern, himself. LMAO

3. Karl Rove is a deeply disturbed person
it bothers me when people describe him as "brilliant". He gets results, but not through brilliance.

14. So he knows CIA and Nazi tactics. Good for him.
He knows how to finesse the initial coup. But he doesn't seem to have a real good knack of keeping power, does he?

Rove has reached the level of his incompetence.

5. Nonsense
This isn't a poor schmo usurping his better. It was a cynical act of calculated cruelty.

But Rove miscalculated.

18. Interesting you should use that phrase, "fair game"
According to what the LATimes is reporting as gossip, Rove was calling around and saying the Wilsons were "fair game"--so if true he was at least egging people on.

I hate the idea of good people being targeted. On Nightline tonight, Wilson said he and his wife were beginning to think in terms of their own safety, though up to now they had been thinking of the country. One can only suspect that he is getting hate mail.

I got an email from a friend about an interview in the British press (sorry, I have yet to track it down) with Paul Krugman who says that the NYTimes actually has someone tasked to cull death threats from his email. Very disturbing.

17. I agree with all the posts.
Ambassador Wilson = class
Karl Rove = crass

I think the saying 'birds of a feather flock together' fits here. Bush is a certain type of individual who would repel someone like Wilson. Wilson, on the other hand, would never work with a group like them.

Bush and his group represent the basest form of humanity, founded on pure aggression, fear, intimidation, using each other only as long as they are useful. This type of 'human' was found on the earth about 100,000 years ago. His name was 'Australopithecus', or precursor to Modern Man.

19. Christmas is also Rove's Birthday!!!
Can you believe it? the guy was born on Dec 25.

AND, his mom was so depressed about the father leaving, that she later committed suicide.

so, his dad left the family on x-mas and Rove's birthday.

I think Rove hates ALL people......as bush would say, "he hates us for our freedoms." and he wants to dismantle this entire country. and his little maggot puppet boy is the perfect little cover for the plan.

Evil bastard.
