Just heard *Bush claiming he wants to find the "leaker".
It's a short sound byte on NPR.

What's intersting is his voice.

He sounds like a little kid caught stealing from mommy's purse - and trying to claim he didn't do it. His voice is weak and uncertain. He lacks any feeling of confidence.

It sounds to me like he knows his days in the WH are numbered.

Listen to it the next time it comes up.

1. Bush wants to "find" the leaker,
about as much as he wants to "improve" education, and restore "honor and dignity" to the White House. ;-)

4. So when Bush* is called to testify, we can ask him
On September 30, 2001, when you said you wanted to "find the leaker," didn't you already know who the leaker was, Mr. Bush? Hadn't you known since July 2001 the names of the operatives in your administration who had called up reporters offering the name of Valerie Plame as an undercover CIA agent? So why did you say on September 30 that you wanted to find the leaker? Were you lying, Mr. Bush? And why did you protect a traitor to the U.S., someone who sabotaged the war on terror and the fight against the proliferation of WMDs, for two months?

5. NPR had a good segment on this story.
They made it clear that there was a conspiracy (many reporters notified of the CIA agent's name) and covered it well. Also, Wilson earlier said that he didn't believe Chimpy knew or approved it because Wilson had done work for Poppy that was much appreciated during the first Gulf War.

6. I believe him.
Well, not the leaker of Plame name, the one who spilled the beans on the set-up - he really wants to find him. Did you catch the Sopranos lingo? "They'll be taken care of"

7. Toward the end of his comments
he said something like,

there are experienced, career doj people on this, let's see if a crime was committed and get on with it.

That bothers me. he's already establishing the "bona fides" of the investigators, probably so that when they can't find anything he'll praise their professionalism and deflect criticism.

Also...that "get on with it" (paraphrased, I can't remember his exact term) means he's convinced that they won't find anything.

I wonder if the sounds of the paper shredders kept him awake last night?

13. I wish I was a cartoonist.
I'd draw *Bush and OJ cruisin around in a white Blazer looking for their respective culprits - and bitchin about the lack of help from the doj.

With every word he speaks, he cripples himself.

It's a matter of national security that he be removed from the White House ASAP.

18. A leaker is someone who reveals internal disagreements
or controversies. Someone who reveals the ID of an undercover agent is a traitor. Ask Robert Hanssen.

This is not a leak. It is treason, and the perpetrators should end up with needles in their arms at Terre Haute.

Anybody else see it - and what was YOUR impression. Was it OBVIOUS to you that he was lying - or did he hide it well? I no longer have any judgement when it comes to that snivelling weasel....

20. They've already gotten rid of the evidence....
to hell with the law about "destroying evidence"... That's the way they operate. Remember when Ollie North and Fawn Hall carried documents out on their persons when they couldn't shred anymore?

22. He wants to control the investigation.
He wants to find the leak like "Clear Skies" increased pollution will bring about clear skies, or like a "Patriot Act" that denies rights fought for by patriots would be the act of a patriot, and on and on and on.

His eyes were darting back and forth and around. He's only transparent from about twenty feet.
