Faux Beltway Bozo Uses Flunky to Dress Me Down for E-mail
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 04:01 PM by UTUSN
For the record, I HEARD Whoopi SAY on The View that her jokes using the word "bush" were NOT at the KERRY event, that she takes ownership of what and when she does something, that the jokes about the "bush" were in her nightclub act. This Faux "Michele" is one snarky, jack-booted THUG. I just might tell her so.

Hi there -- before writing emails that criticize the hosts for inaccurate statements, you MIGHT want to check the facts. here's a CNN story (that's CNN, not fox) about Whoopi's comments...I've bolded the part about her comments at the Kerry FUNDRAISER.

Glad you're watching the show -- keep it up!

Slim-Fast trims Whoopi from ads

(CNN) -- Weight loss product manufacturer Slim-Fast announced Wednesday it had dropped Whoopi Goldberg as its spokeswoman, following a controversy over sexually explicit comments she made last week at a fund-raiser in New York for presumptive Democratic nominee Sen. John Kerry.

"We at Slim-Fast trust the public understands that the way in which Whoopi Goldberg chose to express her own personal beliefs at the recent fund-raiser at Radio City Music Hall does not reflect the views and values of Slim-Fast," said a statement from Terry Olson, general manager and vice president of marketing.

"We are disappointed by the manner in which Ms. Goldberg chose to express herself and sincerely regret that her recent remarks offended some of our consumers. Ads featuring Ms. Goldberg will no longer be on the air," the statement added.

Some conservative groups and GOP supporters had threatened to boycott Slim-Fast products if it did not take action.

At the fund-raiser last Thursday, which also featured other Hollywood entertainers, Goldberg made sexually explicit comments that were puns on President Bush's name. (Kerry bash raises $7.5 million <http://www.cnn.com/2004/ALLPOLITICS/07/09/kerry.concert.ap/index.html> )

Goldberg responded with a statement released through her publicist.

The statement said she understands why the company felt it needed to respond to its consumers, given all the press attention it received.

"But it saddens me that people who were not present at the fund-raiser, including anyone from Slim-Fast and others who have not seen the material for themselves but are only reacting to soundbites produced by the media, have opted to judge my 'conduct,' " Goldberg's statement said.

"I've done material on every president in the past 20 years, from Reagan to Carter, from Clinton to Bush. I have used portions of the material I did at the fund-raiser in shows, speeches and even on national television and it seems now that people from the other side are using this to further their own agenda," her statement continued.

"I only wish that the Republican re-election committee would spend as much time working on the economy as they seem to be spending trying to harm my pocketbook."

Goldberg said she wished "godspeed" to Slim-Fast and its users and hoped "that everything will be better digested, now that I'm no longer representing them."

"And just because I'm no longer in those spots, it doesn't mean I will stop talking," the comedienne's statement said.

Other entertainers also made disparaging remarks about Bush at the event, but what has Republicans particularly critical of Kerry were his closing remarks in which he thanked them and said they "conveyed the heart and soul of our country."

That prompted the Bush-Cheney campaign to demand that the Kerry-Edwards campaign release video or film footage of the event, saying Americans deserved to decide for themselves about it.

In response, the Kerry campaign said it would not release the footage unless the Bush campaign released a raft of documents "relating to Bush's performance in office" -- including records of Vice President Dick Cheney's energy task force, among others. Once again a wingnut venue repeats a slur like the GORE-internet thing, this time its being KONDRACKE on 8-13 repeating the falsehood that Whoopi GOLDBERG vulgarly slammed Shrub at a John KERRY event. She has said that her vulgar slams occurred at her nightclub act, NOT at the KERRY event.

Ordinarily I only use the Beltway Bozo circus to numb me while doing the treadmill, but this wingnut spouting from somebody who supposedly is the "moderate" although he is virtually indistinguishable from the other bozo was just too much.

1. My Response to the Jack-booted Thug
Dear Michelle, that was one snarky response. Gosh, you make it sound like
"criticizing the hosts" is some kind of crime or heresy. For your
information, I --------------HEARD-------Whoopi GOLDBERG on The
View ----------SAY---------what I repeated in my e-ltr. Yeah, I've seen
other responses from Faux employees, up to and including AILES, where you
take pleasure in people watching despite the criticism. Fine. I like to
keep a watch on the jack-booted thugs in the spirit of "keep your friends
close, your enemies closer." Free speech, Bay-bee.

3. The Jack-booted Thug Responds
"Michele" must have a lot of time on her hands. She just MUST have the last word. Of course, by the rules of internet bickering, I have already lost since I called them "Nazis".

Anyway, my latest, last response is on top. The next item from "Michele" is HER latest. The rest are previous exchanges.

*****************************

Dear Michele, this is my last word to you. What part of "Whoopi said" is not clear? Your wingnut venue has the resources to interview her about this. As far as your quoting CNN or whomever from BACK AT THE TIME, we KNOW how unreliable many "news" reports are when they first see air. I'm sure your CRACK media instincts can see what happened with that Brazilian who was shot in London: The first reports said he vaulted over the turnstiles and was wearing a heavy overcoat and refused to stop when yelled at. Just yesterday, after OTHER amendments to the original story, the latest version (and I wouldn't bet that it will stop here) is that the dude WALKED through the turnstiles normally, paused to purchase a newspaper, and was SITTING motionless when he was SHOT.

And by the way, there is a VAST difference in RESPONSIBILITY between mere consumers like me spouting off and muckety-mucks on media venues who pretend to great authority, status, and insight. You wingnuts have a very special Circle reserved for yourselves.

Please don't respond. Thank God that our two ships will forever PASS each other. Get KONDRACKE to face his own mail. Wow, unless "Michele" really *IS* KONDRACKE!

yes it is free speech -- but it's helpful to get the facts straight.
