I met another vet who hates Bush ....
I was at a music festival last weekend. I had a table of info including lots of political stickers and buttons. A guy came to the table and bought a "NO W" (W with a red circle and line through it) button. Got into a long conversation with him. He ended up buying a sticker or two also. I went and checked out his truck and it has at least 20 anti-bush stickers on it. This guy has been a career military guy who just recently retired. He said he drives his truck on to military bases now and gets mixed reviews, but quite a bit of support. He had nothing but contempt for Bush.

just a reminder that there is unrest in the military, both active and retired.

1. My Vietnam vet friend HATES Bush
I talked to him on the phone last week and he just went off on a rant about the current state of things. It's all unravelling.

4. My husband chatted with a fellow the other day who was a vet
from WWII, Korea, and Vietnam. He had nothing but contempt for Bush and his cronies. He had been opposed to this war from the beginning.

32. VA waiting room
My mom brought my grampa to the VA a couple of weeks ago and she said that the waiting room was full of old veterans ranting about the current state of things. People are angry and are not taking it any more!

Welcome to DU btw :)

2. This is one thing
It's important for soldiers to express their disdain for Bush publically. Teh prevailing bullshit is that everybody in the military loves Bush - and people need to know that there is nothing wrong with being a good soldier and, as a citizen, thinking Bush and the Republicans are generally bad for America.

11. It's against the UCMJ for active and current members of the........
military to make disparaging remarks about the Commander-in-Chief.

We can think it and feel it but we have to be careful about what we say!

21. I don't know that you would have to bash Bush
You could simply expose the virtues of the Democratic Party or expound on Liberal Principles - but I appreciate that that's easier said than done.

But notice, he knows it is fairly safe from his C.O.'s behavior. Other soldiers are in very different situations.

24. They are nice for giving him credit of ever having a soul. When I
look at Bu$h, I cannot fathom that vile creature ever having a human soul. As a former salesman I know it is hard to sell something you do not have.

26. Another Vet against Bu$h
I hear a lot of talk down at my VFW Post these days about how fucked up Bush and this administration are. A couple years ago this kind of talk was not heard there, now it is common. It is refreshing to hear them now. This bunch of cowards in office have done a lot of damage to veterans and their families.

yesterday on the "The Young Turks" on Sirius Left. He said, in effect, they were (are) clueless and believed Iraq would be a cake walk. And, yes, it is about oil. And yup, we are in something of a pickle.

28. Your friend Mario is absolutely correct.
Unfortunately it's not a joke. Well, at least I'm not laughing.

I met a lot of vets when I did volunteer work on Kerry's campaign last year. Even met a Swift Boat Vet. He gave me a "Veteran's for Kerry" button but I told him I couldn't wear it because I'm not a vet and that honor should be reserved for those who fought. He just smiled and said "You can wear it." The vets were the coolest people and deserve our utmost respect. To all the vets that have posted here, thank you for your service to the country.

is a retired Master Sargent and drill sargent with 3 Nam tours under his belt who is absolutely LIVID over Iraq! I saw him right before the war started and he was so angry he could barely speak. He managed to say only "I can't believe they're going to do it again - it'll be just like Nam!" through his clenched jaws.

Despises Bush and his ilk. Worked very hard on the Clark '04 campaign. Military personnel against Bush are not a figment of the imagination. :-)

29. My late mothers boy friend hates him too
He served in the European and Pacific theaters of WWII and in Korea. He got out when Vietnam was getting hot. He has a son in the military now. He was a fan of Reagan and didn't like Clinton but he hates *, I'm sure he voted for Kerry but preferred Edwards.

30. My husband is a SFC, 19 yr. vet, served in Iraq
and he hates Bush. He is AGR and is at a school in TX right now. He said that he has 26 ppl. in his class, most of them rabid * supporters and war supporters. He said that he and one other guy are not and they are the only ones that have actually served in combat in Iraq! My husband is quick to tell anyone who supports the war, if they haven't been there, then STFU. Of course, you do run across those who support the war and have been there. The real supporters are usually really screwed up and love killing. Most of the ppl. who have been there are very indifferent and will say they support the war because they support their fellow soldiers and have it drilled in their head that they have to support the war in order to support their fellow soldiers.

Mu husband said his roomy is originally from Ecquador but has been here many years and is a citizen. He said they got in an argument a couple of nights ago because the roommate brought up how important the war in Iraq is because we were attacked on 9/11. My hubby asked him how many of those attackers were from Iraq? Of course, he thought some were, but said it didn't really matter because Iraq was a threat to our country. My husband then asked him how did it taste when he was sucking *'s d*ck? (My husband's exact words. Ppl. in the military have some really strong language - it just goes with the territory)Needless to say, they don't like each other at all.

There is a large minority in the military that hate Bush, but they don't have the 1st amendment rights we do. When my husband was in Iraq and said things (minor compared to what I say) he was threatened with being fragged. You really have to be careful with what you say when you are actually in the military. We also live in a very red state so he has to be extra careful.

You have to keep in mind that the majority of the ppl. in the military are seriously brainwashed. There is no logic in their thinking and they will not accept any logic. The goal of the military is to break the individual to make him/her part of a fighting machine. It is very hard to pull someone out of that once they are in.

33. as you can see from the replies
it's not hard to find vets who hate shrub. I have a Vietnam vet friend who loathes him as well.

I got into a conversation with a guy who claims everyone who speaks out against the war in Iraq is a "Jane Fonda". I politely informed him that it would be unwise to refer to Vietnam vets as "Jane Fondas" unless he wants to wear his ass for a hat...
