Today's Bushism: "There is only one person who hugs the mothers
and the widows, the wives and the kids upon the death of their loved one. Others hug but having committed the troops, I've got an additional responsibility to hug and that's me and I know what it's like." GWB, Washington, D.C; December 11, 2002

Well I'm glad he cleared that up!

4. Hugging is hard work.
I've been fishing for a promotion at the office, but they say I'm just not responsible enough to handle the hugging demands.

12. Sure he does...
... peremptorily, without emotion or genuine sympathy. That quote is meant to convince people he has human feeling, when, in fact, he's completely devoid of it. That's why it comes off sounding as false as it does--because the focus of the remark is on him and what he does.

But it works with a media and a public which see the superficial as substance. Thanks, television, for making a monster appear human.

18. you only get hugged if you promise to vote for him, or make a big donation
Otherwise, here's what happens to bereaved family members.

""My daughter said to him directly `I wish I could bring my loved one back' and he said something like `so do we.' Later she told me that after he made his remark he gave her one of the filthiest looks she had ever had gotten in her life."

19. It's his responsibility
"I've got an additional responsibility to hug and that's me and I know what it's like."

1. "Responsibility to hug" WTF?
2. "and that's me" Well, that part is just plain silly.
3. "I know what it's like." He knows what it's like to have a responsibility to hug? What a burden that must be. Wait, not a burden... what's the word... yeah, delusion, that's it. Getting us out of this mess is your responsibility, W, not administering hugs.

17. Time to create a new cabinet position to handle hugging the bereaved
Any nominations for Secretary of Hugs?

Should it be someone sexy with a firm grip, like Jenna Jameson, or maybe we're looking more for the grandmother type?
