Got a response back from Coca Cola
In regards to this thread:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=104&topic_id=4330702

Made a few calls and sent off emails.

Well today I got this back:

Thank you for contacting The Coca-Cola Company. We appreciate the opportunity to
respond.

Unfortunately, there is information being shared about the Coca-Cola bottler in
Waco, Texas that is not factual. Regardless of what you have heard or read, let me
assure you that the bottler in Waco has not donated products to any organization or
individual holding events associated with activities in Crawford – including radio
stations or radio personalities.

The Coca-Cola Company is a nonpartisan organization. We do business in more than
200 countries, and do not take a position on matters that do not affect the soft
drink industry.

Your comments are important to us and we hope that this clears up the misleading
information that currently is circulating. Thank you again for contacting us.

1. Hmmm
So Air America was wrong? Or else they pulled it after the hullabaloo on Friday?
I NEVER got any of my promised calls back.
I would say that we gave them time to do damage control.

2. i suspected that this was the case from the start, but...

3. The bottler hasn't . . . but what about the distributor?
Edited on Tue Aug-16-05 01:19 PM by ET Awful
All the bottler does is hand the product off to the distributor who then delivers it to retail, etc. At least this is the way it works with most beverage makers . . . does Coca Cola do their own distribution?

So who is the distributor for the region?

4. Have you done some checking (i.e. Snopes)?
I doubt they would send a "sorry our bad' letter out. Surely someone down there at Camp Cindy knows what the truth is.

"Regardless of what you have heard or read, let me
assure you that the bottler in Waco..."

He didn't say Coca Cola--just the bottler in Waco. Doesn't mean the Waco distributor or Dallas distributor didn't do it.
Who knows. I didn't go to Crawford so I don't know if the planned Hot Dog and Coke festivity by the bank even happened. Anyone in Crawford know?

9. Good catch

I pretty much glanced over it the first read, was surprised that someone responded and it just didn't end up in that internet "black hole".

8. So, WW2 was not a matter that affected the soft drink industry.
I guess it isn't if you just keep doing business with the enemy.

11. Well I have to say that I was totally enlightened in the original thread
regarding Fanta, etc. In light of that as well as not returning calls, etc.., Coke products will never be purchased again in my house. We drink a case of cokes a day (I know, that is too much)which is close to $2k a year of profit that Coke won't see.

15. The bottom line is, WERE THE FREEPERS DRINKING COKE PRODUCTS?
That would pretty much be the smoking gun (or foaming can) as the case may be.
