Two dove seasons. A month starting late September, and then after Christmas to mid-January. That's from memory.

15. yeah they hunt doves in the south.
He wasn't talking about bird season however... doves are more of a sport hunt I'm sure...they don't offer much in the way of meat.

I was so damn frustrated with all the "take him a pie" shit on here yesterday and no one listening to what he actually said. This man made an out right threat of shooting peace protesters and he was forgiven. I think he's damn lucky he's not behind bars right now.

They're not exactly a varment, cause no harm whatsoever and have very little meat on them.

Oh, they also mate for life.

practice for other bird hunting..he only hunts for food btw, I'm cool with it as long as we're eating what he shoots... and he doesn't support sport hunting.

Who does Fitzgerald report to?

Doves dont fly with Buzzards....

Patrick J. Fitzgerald began serving as the United States Attorney for the
Northern District of Illinois on September 1, 2001. Mr. Fitzgerald was initially
appointed on an interim basis by Attorney General John Ashcroft before being
nominated by President George W. Bush. The United States Senate confirmed his
nomination by unanimous consent on October 23, 2001, and President Bush signed
his commission on October 29, 2001.

49. Lots of people hunt doves
Including John Kerry.

John Kerry eats dove. Even better, he shoots them. From behind the stalks of a Southern cornfield, he'll watch them flutter and dart, and fire.

"You clean them. Let them hang. It takes three or four birds to have a meal," said the Massachusetts senator. "You might eat it at a picnic, cold roasted. I love dove."

They're quite tasty and a sporty bird to hunt because they fly so quickly.

He outright tells the reporter there is more to what he is saying. "You figure it out" he says.

Stop defending him. He said it and he can take responsibility for making those threats.

Nobody is trying to say texas doesn't have a dove season... ok? We have them all over the country. it's what he said after that.

Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 03:24 PM by ohio_liberal
CNN had it on and the iconoclast website might have the full audio. He says he was out practicing for dove season(which was of course a bullshit excuse). And the protesters are scaring off his game. I don't believe this guy is capable of that kind of nuance. But he was definitely trying to intimidate the protesters.

45. I think your giving the man
entirely too much credit.

Dove season starts here Sept 3, and I already have my field picked out. I've been praticing my shooting for the last week or so.

Yes, he might of meant more by it, but Dove hunting is probably the most popular shooting sport in the southeast -- its cheap, good food, and a chance to "shoot the shit". A lot of businesses rent fields for their employers and customers, there are public fields, etc.

Edited on Mon Aug-15-05 03:52 PM by Hong Kong Cavalier
(Edited out unnecessary information.)

He said he was going dove hunting one fall. (I think it was right before the invasion of Iraq started.
I asked him what he meant, as we didn't get dove hunting permitted until after 2004, and thus it wasn't permitted, as far as I knew.

And he just smiled at me and said "war protestors".
Apparently he was just "kidding" with me, because he didn't go and shoot up a whole bunch of peopel opposed to the Iraq invasion (I was one), but still, that smile chilled me... :scared:

He's just a poor, uneducated hick who's tired of the protesters interrupting his quiet life. I think the best approach would be trying to befriend him somehow.
