1961 and 2003: The Difference

The Nixon/CIA Bay of Pigs operation, which was planned in 1960 before the election, turned into a fiasco in April 1961. JFK, who was in office for just three months and who was misled by the CIA about the plan, stood up before the American people and took 100% of the blame -even though it was a botched CIA operation from the get-go.

Contrast this with Bush and his Niger lies, who has never failed to pass the buck in his whole life, never takes the blame for anything, and has brought this nation into such disrepute it will take decades to undo the damage.

And that's all I'm going to say about this..

1. Agreed
To live at a time when politicians fessed up when they did something wrong. Man, sometimes youth is a burden... of course then you get reading Yeats and you change you mind...
Anyway, I would love to see Bush admit his wrong doings, the American people would realize the honor and dignity of the whitehouse was already in the whitehouse. Gore may have been considered a tinman, but he had a heart of gold.

3. "I would love to see Bush admit his wrong doings"
* cannot psychologically do that. He might be able to mumble (w/great effort) we were wrong, but never I was wrong.

He would stumble as he did when he said, "fool me once......, shame on.................. shame on you............ and fool me we can't get fooled again."

2. I am agreeing with you more and more TIA
(what is the world coming to!?) Bush blames the CIA, the CIA blames the UK, the UK blames France....

France will not take the blame or pass the blame though. Chirac will blame Bush.

"George Bush, J'accuse!"

4. Looks to me like Tenet is playing Kennedy's role this time around.
Taking 100% responsibility for the situation even though all he did was acquiesce at a moment when he shouldn't have.

Codename Zapata (Same as Poppy's oil company)
Invasion ships named Houston (as in Poppy's home town at the time) and Barbara (as in the mother of the man who is dragging us into perpetual war)

Go figure...
